To be honest, and this might shock most of you, but I've never played a Zelda game, ever!

Oh my, you are missing out my friend! Start with Ocarina of Time, then hit up Wind Waker and Twilight Princess which are both sequels from the time split in OOT. Great games! I actually like it over the Mario franchise. I can make it through those games with all items and hearts, except WW (very time consuming and a little confusing trying to obtain all the sea charts).

I recommend A Link to the Past and Ocarina of time. Those are usually considered the best Zelda games, and with good reason. A link to the past is considered the best 2D one (most 2D Zeldas are very good, in my opinion) and OoT is considered the best 3D one. I recommend the 3DS version of Ocarina, if you can get it. After trying them both, you'll know if Zelda is for you.

To be honest, the reason I never got into it is because I never had the opportunity to play them, neither did I find it attractive with all these back-and-forth chronological issues. So, this helps. Plus, I do have Wind Waker on my GC, I guess I will dust it out and give it a try properly. I never personally got into it when I bought it, due to life commitments (boy, that was ages ago!). And, I have an update. Check these screens out. I've started improving the textures on the spacecraft. ![]() 01-15-2015, 10:21 AM
No need to concern yourself with the chronological order unless you're a big fan, or really curious. It certainly isn't something you need to know to enjoy a single game, with Majora's Mask being a possible exception.
Looks good. I noticed that the original textures, despite being so High res, are a bit "muddy." Just a bit of sharpening really ups the quality. In your case, it may look just a bit too sharp, though it seems to look good in-game, and I realize your goal is to match the movies. I updated the thread title, by the way. 01-15-2015, 10:51 AM

Yeah, I am sort of doing it by hand at the same time, hence the color tones that are a lot more darker, and certain patterns are popping out more. ![]() 01-15-2015, 11:49 AM
Okay, I need some feedback. Here's another update on what the TIE's look like in space, as well as the back-end of the Frigate.

Texture newbie here, but if I simply wanted to make the images sharper(upscale I guess) what would be the best way to go about that? Applying a sharpness filter? Using photshops built-in upscale function(Btw, does the image, say source is 128x128 have to be 128x128 or a multipule, so 512x512 or 1024x1024)

Yes, multiples of 2.
Personally, I think the only way to really nail it is to upscale and redraw the whole thing on a separate layer. I have been looking at the 128x128 texture for the storm troopers in the logo intro and replace it with a much higher quality texture, unfortunately it's difficult to actually find a texture map of a storm trooper. I did find one guy that I asked who had made a 3D model but he didn't want to hand the texture out, which I totally understand, and thanked him anyway. Ooh, I better write an email and thank him anyway, haven't done that yet. Anyone know where I might find a high quality storm trooper texture map that I could work from?
