I think it's time to finally merge this branch into master.
Development Thread Testers wanted - tev_fixes_new

@KHg8m3r: Nice to hear that you didn't come across any bugs! About the performance tests, for one the comparison is somewhat flawed as JMC explained, but also you should disable frame limit for testing because just because it still runs fullspeed doesn't mean the branch is just as fast in the general case.

Here are some performance comparisons against the latest build:
Skyward Sword @ 4xIR (no AA, 16xAF, per-pixel lighting on, fast depth off, openMP on, HLE) 4.0-769- D3D: 50 101 168% OGL: 40 80 133% TEV new- D3D: 34 69 115% OGL: 20 40 66% (!?) Super Mario Galaxy 2 @ 4xIR (no AA, PPL on, fast depth on, openMP on, LLE) 4.0-769- D3D: 62 62 103% OGL: 60 60 100% TEV new- D3D: 55 55 92% OGL: 47 47 78% Other M @ 4xIR (no AA, PPL on, fast depth on, openMP on, HLE) 4.0-769- D3D: 108 108 181% OGL: Crashes on booting. TEV new- D3D: 74 74 124% OGL: Still crashes on booting. The drops are pretty huge on my system (hardware in sig), to the point where games wouldn't work without a majorly reduced IR compared to what I've been running at. 02-02-2014, 01:18 AM

Doing some testing right now (all of my results, for instance, will be obtained using 1X IR and D3D).
Found some problem: it won´t let me open the graphic options, since Dolphin crashes when trying that. -EDIT- Luigi´s Mansion (start screen): 116 FPS, 128 VPS/ 126 FPS, 158 VPS. Real XFB enabled for BIOS image. ADD: Gameplay from 6 FPS (hick-up) to 34 FPS, from 9 VPS (hick-up) to 47 VPS. Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.
Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

People. I know you're trying to help with these performance tests. But, you need to do a CONTROL experiment as well! Remember, if it's slower at 4x IR, we don't know if that's because you're at 4X IR and the GPU is slowing down, or the CPU is slowing down it would happen no matter what. If you're going to do performance testing, please use this format.
1x IR no enhancements on Master and Tev_Fixes_New as a control. That let's us know if anything abnormally was changed. After that, you can do whatever you normally play games with, and show how much it impacts your experience. It seems most people choose 4x IR with enhancements. DJBarry: That glitch with the crashing is in Master too 02-02-2014, 01:42 AM

Hope that´ll get fixed soon.
Other entry: Mario Kart Double Dash (LLE activated) Title screen: from 60 to 88 FPS, same on VPS. Gameplay: from 27 to 45 FPS. EDIT: I know you just made a new limit for the next testings, but I made a typo over there; I´m using auto IR instead of 1X. Bump, next entry: Mario Party 4 Cinematic, start screen: from 17 to 34 FPS and VPS. File select screen: from 48 to 66 FPS and VPS. Gameplay, 10 to 47 FPS and VPS. Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.
Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

Retested with everything at default. No speed hits, but I found 2 bugs that aren't in the latest dev buids, on both backends.
In One Piece Grand Adventure, the textures for characters doesn't load properly during a fight unless you turn on per-pixel lighting http://imgur.com/YjoHgRv In Sonic Colors, Sonic has this weird grainy bubble around his feet unless you turn on per-pixel lighting http://imgur.com/KsLahm7 dff logs: https://mega.co.nz/#!uME1UQrS!EVS_CaFz4a...ECiKGQYfD0 (02-02-2014, 01:35 AM)JMC47 Wrote: People. I suppose I was more interested in how this branch would impact user performance in practice. Here's a 1x resolution/no enhancement comparison with the latest build: Skyward Sword (D3D, HLE) 4.0-788: 66 133 222% TEV: 63 127 212% Super Mario Glaxy 2: (D3D, LLE) 4.0-788: 68 68 114% TEV: 59 59 99% Other M: (D3D, LLE) 4.0-788: 103 103 173% TEV: 102 102 170% Resident Evil 4 (OGL, HLE): 4.0-788: 60 120 200% TEV: 60 120 200% Resident Evil 4 (D3D, HLE) 4.0-788: 51 102 171% TEV: 50 100 167% Still some big speed loss in SMG 2. Other M still doesn't boot with OGL and SMG 2 seemed locked at 60fps on OGL, even with framelimit and V-sync off, so I didn't include it. RE4 was also pretty weirdly stuck at 60fps on OGL... not sure what causes that. 02-05-2014, 01:40 PM
There's a vsync bug in Dolphin, you have to manually disable vsync in nvidia/ati settings to get above 60 fps.

Further debugging still in progress, not sure if there will be a fix for this, though. |
