Alright this build seems to have tendency to suddenly close during gameplay for me. It happen totally random and unexpected, one time it's just after I load the game, and another a few minutes in, tested on both Rune Factory games.
Development Thread Testers wanted - async-dvd branch

I just did some further testing in Metroid Prime in various builds. Turns out the studdering problem I thought was because of loading wasn't caused by loading at all. It seems to be an LLE problem. On builds before 3.0-684 the studdering is simply not there, and it's not present on the newer builds (with the LLE problem) when using HLE. It acted like a loading issue, as it occurs when going between doors and through areas quickly, but from the testing it appears it can't be loading related.

I confirm the much more crackling sound of Rune Factory Tides of Destiny
Zelda Wind Wakes now takes 15 second to load after the Nintendo & dolby sourround pro logic II logos disappear (on master it's about 10 seconds) I confirm some random crashes on boot (memory could not be read) with Zelda Twilight Princess Wii (RZDP01) 08-25-2012, 03:15 AM
Well, I found a bug, on this branch, Just Dance 2 freezes on loading screen with a BackPath error (when you choose a song). Stopping the emulator and booting the game again (without closing Dolphin) makes this issue disappear... Also, this doesn't occur either on 3.0 stable nor in the latest master branch build...

I made an account just to post my results! One of my fav games, James Bond: Nightfire, has a substantial performance boost when playing, no longer any studdering for 30 seconds at a time and it runs butter smooth, please merge this with 4.0, this is a major milestone for dolphin. You fixed my favorite game!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have some test results for you (this hasn't yet been committed to master so I believe it is appropriate).
Skyward Sword is smoother for me. I have yet to notice any regressions in the games I own. What games do you need tested?

Mostly Wii games, I think I've noticed more crashes there when I was testing async-dvd. Thanks for your feedback.

I'll test NSMBWii later then.
From what I can tell so far: 1) GC games I've tested (Wind Wake) have been unaffected 2) Skyward Sword has improved and no regressions NSMBWii has a lot of wait-based loading so it shouldn't benefit at all. If that breaks or not could be important.

So, this branch could be merged to master with a option to enable/disable this on game properties, since some games received huge speed boosts and other received more issues...
