Wireshark doesn't help much... Both emulated GameCube are communicating, yet I can't understand why it freezes.
Do the GameCubes need to have IP addresses given by a DHCP server ? I guess not, since IRL they can be linked by a single ethernet cable. If they do need IP addresses, then I'll have to investigate how to create a DHCP server in Windows...
Development Thread BBA working :)

Hi guys,
I don't know if someone still is reading this thread, but i've found some interesting things for who is wanting to connect their Dolphin to a real Gamecube. When I connected Dolphin to Xlink Kai, Dolphin said that the mac address of my PC is: 0009BF5A5832. But this isn't my real mac address. My real mac address is: 021E8CF4B96F. Conclusion: The real gamecube tries to send data to the wrong mac address(0009BF5A5832), so dolphin will never receive the information. So, we have to change our mac address into: 0009BF5A5832 which isn't possible. Because we are using a network bridge. All network bridges start with 02. I don't know how to solve this problem, but it would be cool if I am able to hook up my Gamecube to my PC... Sorry if I wrote bad English, I'm Dutch. https://www.dropbox.com/s/b99i6g2v92a1jr...0Xlink.png 10-18-2013, 07:28 AM
Barrevent, maybe this might work. In Dolphin.ini, change this line:
Code: [Core]
why would you use xlink kai? is your gamecube reached over the internet or on lan?
also, the mac stuff shouldn't be an issue - that is the purpose of using the openvpn TAP adapter. (03-27-2013, 03:28 AM)Zerwan Wrote:Hello again. I was helped by this message, so many thanks to skid: Quote:Posted by skid - 10-17-2013 10:28 PMThe solution consists in setting a different BBA_MAC for each Dolphin instance. If you don't do that, the MAC address will be the same by default, and it will freeze when virtual gamecubes find one another. This solution relies on the command line parameter "/U" to set a different configuration for each Dolphin instance. To sum up: 1) Install Dolphin 2) Open a command line prompt (cmd), go in the dolphin folder, and start dolphin twice, each time with a different /U. This will create two configurations folders. Example: Code: cd C:\Program Files\Dolphin 3) In each dolphin prepare your ISO folder and enable BBA in the Gamecube tab ("SP1" parameter). Then close both Dolphin instances. 3) In each configuration folder, open Config\Dolphin.ini, look for the line "BBA_MAC" (line 191 in my case), and set a unique 12 digits number. Example: in c:\dolphin-conf1\Config\Dolphin.ini -> BBA_MAC = 000000000001 in c:\dolphin-conf2\Config\Dolphin.ini -> BBA_MAC = 000000000002 4) Download OpenVPN and install it : ( http://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/re...x86_64.exe ) . This will create a first TAP adapter for one Dolphin instance to use. 5) Download TAP windows from the same website and install it ( http://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/re....9.2_3.exe ). Then run the file "c:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\bin\addtap.bat". This will create a second TAP adapter, for a second Dolphin. 6) In Windows Network Connections window ( http://downloadsquad.switched.com/2011/0...s-7-vista/ ), select both TAP connections, right click, and create a bridge. 7) Start both Dolphins as done in 2, and start your game in each one of them (e.g. Mario Kart). LAN mode should work properly, and you have 8 players mario kart on a single computer . 12-31-2018, 08:28 AM

I'm currently trying to get a LAN connection between my real Gamecube and a Dolphin Emulator running but when I set "Broadband Adapter" in the SP1 settings it always reverts back to "Dummy".

If you are running 5.0 stable in a language other than English, this is a known bug. Either update to a development version of Dolphin (recommended) or change Dolphin's interface language to English. My Gamecube and my Desktop PC are connected through an XR-500 Router. Do I still need to fiddle around with virtual VPN when I only want to establish a LAN Game between a real Gamecube and Dolphin? So far I have no success, tried with and without the VPN tools. When I enter LAN mode on the real Gamecube Hardware, the actual Game Name gets shown on my Network: When I install the VPN tools that are listed here, one TAP LAN gets shown active as soon as I launch Dolphin LAN. That's as far as I am right now. Update: It works now. |
