Thank you for enjoying this texture pack. I would love to have higher quality skies. The issue however is finding those higher quality textures. I only work with porting textures and fixing / adjusting them. Sadly I am not really that great in making my own textures.

I wonder if any of the resources from the retextures of Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario Sunshine could be used? I'm unsure if they would fit but considering they are from/based off another mario game I would assume some could possibly be borrowed or maybe even perhaps some from NSMB (I understand the clouds and stuff wouldn't move and I'm not sure how they would look ported but just a thought)
Each skybox consists out of several images. This varies per skybox. Some skyboxes are shared, such as World 2 and World 15. Bowser in the Fire Sea (which is shared with Lethal Lava Land) uses 32 different images. Big Boo's Haunt uses 32 images too. Most worlds actually use 32 images. Some worlds require much more such as Cool Cool Mountain (57), Shifting Sand Land (41), Bowser in the Dark World (56) and Wet Dry World (56) to name a few. There is a total of 11 skyboxes all used throughtout the game. Bob-omb Battlefield and Tall Tall Mountain both use two skyboxes at once.
The original texture size for each image (for all skyboxes) is 32x32. So any replacement file has to be a multiple of that size, such as 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, 512x512 and so on. Mollymutts textures are 128x128 while the Skybox from the Ocarina of Time Community Texture Pack is 256x256. Speaking of the Community Texture Pack, it's skybox uses 48 images. It might fit the Whomp's Fortress theme, however that skybox requires 56 images. The texture pack for Super Mario Sunshine does not have it's skybox(es) retexured in the same way as Super Mario 64. Neither does the texture pack for Super Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros. Wii (it uses only one image for a skybox). The technique for rendering a skybox has changed since the GameCube. Most N64 games use multiple images for rendering one whole image, most noticable for larger fonts, skyboxes and backgrounds. In the end, I will have to look for alternative Super Mario 64 texture packs for Project64. Most N64 texture packs are found on this forum: http://www.emutalk.net/forums/126-High-R...-Textures/. Of course there is Hypatia's wonderful SM64 texture pack at: http://onthegreatsea.tumblr.com/tagged/Mario-Craft-64. However, I am not really a great fan of using a painterly (paper craft as some may say) style. Regardless of my personal tastes or not, her quality of textures is quite high. Her skyboxes are actually 512x512. It would certainly be an improvement to use those instead. However, they remains Hypatia's textures. Copyright stuff and such. So I am afraid that ain't gonna happen. Even so, I don't think it is a good idea to mix styles? For now, I am working on porting the Super Smash Brothers texture pack for the virtual console. It is about 3000 textures, so far 500 textures are port. After that is done, I continue working on this texture pack again. Some ideas for V1.1 is fixing some transparency issues (Mario's eyes), fixing some font symbols, replacing the font buttons, finishing the multiplayer textures and hopefully the skyboxes. Most of the textures with low quality are causes by Mollymutt's textures. Razius's textures are higher quality, however his pack was never finished. So I be on the lookout for any replacements for Mollymutt's textures. 05-03-2016, 11:32 PM

Just read number (3) She said "There will also be a version released for the dolphin emulator but that’s probably a couple of months away (unless someone wants to port it for me)" http://onthegreatsea.tumblr.com/post/101...k-download It's been a year since she posted that and she still hasn't ported it. in fact On her FAQ page under Mario Craft 64 questions, she says: So as we can all see here she's probably never going to port it to dolphin, so that reason alone should be a good idea for anyone to port it to Dolphin instead, seeing how she won't ever port it. And as she said originally she wouldn't mind, but she feels like Dolphin compared to Project 64 is not good with textures. Personally I think making textures for Dolphin is much easier then project 64.
Would she mind if I used specific parts? Such as the skyboxes? I really need to replace MollyMutt's textures sometime. I like to keep Razius's textures through. Well... Anyway, she released her pack in PNG yesterday or so making porting possible. The previous update used the Glide64 format.

Nah, am sure she wouldn't mind, there's nothing on her blog saying anything about copyright. And as you can see, she did say "(Unless someone wants to port it for me)". But if you're still concerned even though you shouldn't, you can always make a tumblr account and ask her. 05-04-2016, 04:43 AM

Well, I didn't ask for permission about the OOT community texture pack. I credit them as the original authors and link to their thread. I think someone commented about my pack many months ago (not in a bad way), but the thread is a bit dead over there.
By the way, how can you retexture so fast (mostly skies)? I calculate that you are a lot faster than me. Or that you retextured for more than 12 hours a day for this pack :p. Edit: maybe my calculations are bad because the last few months I had to edit many textures and create some of them. But puzzle backgrounds fry my brain anyway.
CPU: Intel Core i5 4670k @ 4.4GHz
GPU: GAINWARD GeForce GTX 1080 Phoenix "GLH" RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X DDR3 16GB 1600MHz CL7 OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
The answer is obvious. I am not a human, I am a machine.
But seriously, I tend to run Project64 and Dolphin simultaneously with dumping textures turned on for both. I place all texture's from both emulators in a separate folder and sort them on file size. Then it is just a matter of comparing the N64 versus the VC version. If both textures are exactly the same (most often I have to zoom in 100-1000x times to see the exact details in the images) then I rename the Dolphin texture filename for the hires texture matching the Project64 texture filename. Skyboxes are quite easy this way. Of course, a lot of textures are easy to identify, so I just rename them on the fly. Of course I am not working 12 hours a day on it, that would be impossible with my time schedule. I guess on an average day I start porting textures I use between 2 to 4 hours and then call it a day. Some days I don't feel like porting (yea, call me lazy! I have my rights as a human being!). It is actually weird, I consider myself a slow person, taking at least twice to four times the amount of time to preform your average task. Well... Perhaps it is not that weird, computing is my life. Ugh... All I see and hear are ones and zeros wherever I go. I guess, I could replace the current skyboxes with those from Hypatia's. In fact, most of MollyMutt's textures should be replaced this way. For now, the SM64 HD pack is on a break, until Smash Brothers is done, which is now currently at roughly 570 / 3000. Don't worry through, SM64 HD is coming back. Version V0.1 for Smash Brothers can be expected soon, the interface should be almost done as well as some characters (and reskins) and the Peach's Castle world. I start a new thread for that. 05-04-2016, 09:51 AM

That's great news that you'll be replacing the skyboxes with the ones that Hypatia created
She also did a great job on the paintings as well, (The portraits you jump into to go into the level) Hopefully those can be replaced as well but I agree with you, I really like Razius's textures best. Can't wait to check out the Super Smash Bro's HD retexture. Good luck on it! 05-04-2016, 07:36 PM
I'm also looking forward to seeing the sky textures from Hypatia's texture pack. I do think they look a lot better
