If you hold the Tab key or set Framelimit to Off, what happens then? If you can run it fullspeed doing either one of those, it shouldn't be an issue with your hardware. The last revision I played this on was 3.5-105. I was running the game at 3.3GHz with my i5-2500K; your i5-3450 should get similar performance even if you're not using Turbo Boost at all (running at 3.1GHz) since Ivy Bridge has a higher IPC than Sandy Bridge. Let me see if I can recreate my old settings when I played it. I'll post them later on.

If I set no framelimit or let my finger stuck on the tab key, I still got the same slowdown (3-5 FPS max)
I'll try with turbo mode (3.5GHz with 2 core instead of 4 for better performance with DualCore Only applications) but I don't think this will solve the problem. EDIT : No changes , doh ! Intel Core i5-3450 3.1GHz on Asus P8H77-V LE

Problem SOLVED ! I found out that I got Texture Dump and EFB Target Dump enabled and causing this slowdown.
So when unchecked, the game runs nice underwater Thanks again for everyone's help. Intel Core i5-3450 3.1GHz on Asus P8H77-V LE

After experiencing some minor freezing issues at the start, and tweaking my settings via some of the instructions on this thread, this game has been wonderfully playable for me at ~25 FPS for a good portion of the game.
However, after reaching the Yafutoma area and fighting the first boss before you reach the city, my game has begun to crash. It crashes every time a character (friend or enemy) does any action besides defend during a battle. Once I equipped the White Map in an attempt to not fight any more battles, I found that it now crashes when I enter cutscenes too. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be happening? 05-12-2013, 03:06 AM
Try using the latest revision; you can download it here: http://dolphin-emu.org/download/
Most games should have less crashes in general since the FIFO-BP merge a few months ago. It may very well help you in SoA. But as I said in my post at the top of this page, I played SoA flawlessly with 3.5-105, so it should be alright even before the FIFO-BP merge (which was 3.5-6XX, can't remember exactly). If you still have trouble, post your Dolphin settings. 05-12-2013, 03:47 AM

That's a known issue for some users with every game. After you play for an extended period of time, audio starts to crackle like static. You'll only notice it on games you play long in one sitting. Easiest solution is to save as soon as possible, then stop and start emulation. Considering that you only have to do it once every few hours (I mean, you aren't playing that long without breaks are you? That's not healthy :p) it's not a bad workaround.

Shouldnt that be considered as an important issue then? some people actually enjoy some games and play them for more than 2 hours man, i had this game for like 6 years but the disc was scratched to death since it belonged to a former friend of mine and i could never get to try it at all until recently when it became playable at good speeds
The issue is being looked into by skid. A user named haddockd has tried to narrow this down (look up his thread in Support). I used to have this issue, but in the recent revisions, the static is not terribly audible unless I listen carefully, and even then it eventually goes away. The audio backend might have something to do with this behavior. ALSA is only available in Dolphin for Linux users, and I seem to get the best results with it.
It is an issue, but certainly not enough to ruin any game. Just save, click the stop button and click the start button. Again, given that it takes roughly 90+ minutes for this audio issue to occur if you need to do this more than once in one sitting, you're probably playing games too long in a single stretch I'm serious, it's not healthy; at least take a 15 min. break or something like that |
