The audio constantly makes crackling sounds that are really annoying... is anyone else having this problem?

I'm facing the same problem when saving the game state from dolphin and load it? Try to save the game normally from the game. Now I'm having the "red cage problem" too. OK. I'm already download rev3207 - hopefully this will fix the problem. Paper Mario places Mario into a paper world. This is excellent RPG system, and traditional platformer characters all perfectly delivered on N64. I loved that game when I got it! It brings back so many memories!

I like to post a workaround for this red cage glitch. As many are experiencing... the game just seems to stop...(not freeze or hang... but as if the game script stopped working) whenever they use the red key to unlock the Puni Elder from the cage. and as it was pointed out, the puni that is following you disappears when the gate is opening. Anyone who doesn't know how the game script goes, the puni is supposed to walk in and start talking to the elder. now the way the game is written, the game won't let the puni talk until after he has reached a spot next to the elder. you see similar behavior in this youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqQU7lnFfRY see how the game is waiting for goombella to reach a specific spot before she'll start talking? this is the behavior I'm talking about. the game is waiting for the puni to reach a spot before it'll let the game continue. however the puni disappears when you opened the gate and the game just waits indefinitely... the first time I played this on the dolphin I got past this point without ever noticing the problem. then unfortunately I accidentally closed dolphin before saving; forcing me to play this part again. however this time I couldn't get past. and for days I couldn't figure out why it worked the first time and not the next million times I tried.... well I seemed to have figured a way to prevent this (on each of the revisions I've tried this on, it was originally broken but my workaround worked for all of them). if the puni is not moving when the gate is opening, then he'll actually disappear. HOWEVER if you managed to get him to continually walk while the gate is opening then when the gate is open he'll suddenly pop in and walk to the elder and start talking. I managed to get this to work in rev. 4771, Dolphin 2.0 RC1, and rev 5218. so... you're asking how exactly did I get him to keep moving while I opened the gate? first I tried using Flurrie to blow him away and opening the gate, but he manages to return and stop before the gate is completely open. so what I did is get him stuck on the bush in front of the gate, by going around the front of the bush then jumping over it to get him stuck on it. then hurried to open the door before he got unstuck. you might see him disappear while stuck on the bush, but it seems to work anyways and he shows up next to the elder. 04-10-2010, 10:04 PM

I was suffering from this very problem just today, and you just happened to post this, and it worked perfectly. The rest of the level was a pain in the ass because of the way the multiple puni sprites wouldn't show up, but because of your tip, I managed to make it through. Thanks! 04-12-2010, 02:47 PM

Newest update on the Francesca problem at the end of Chapter 5: The Key to Pirates (Keelhaul Key)—
Under the most recent revision of Dolphin, Dolphin 2.0 (Monday, 12 April 2010), the problem has been resolved. Though it takes a very long time, the framrate slows significantly and painfully, and the sprites still do not render, after a while of what seems like being frozen or hung, eventually Francesca and Frankie make it up to the ledge, though they appear stuck. The game continues as normal. At the very end of Chapter 5, after fighting and defeating Cortez, Mario is lead back to the room with Francesca and Frankie, a yellow toad, and several identical toad sprites that render only as shadows. The framrate slows significantly. Persevere, endure. The yellow toad explains that the near-earthquake (your fight with Cortez) caused a crack in the wall, and that he can feel breeze! Use Admiral Bobbery to blow open the wall. Of course, the "bomb" animation for the paper wall is still glitched. Allow the yellow toad to attempt to go out. He may go and disappear beyond the hole; he may just continue running against it, looking really silly, as though he is stuck. Give the yellow toad time, and eventually he will return and tell everyone it is time to escape. Then Frankie and Francesca will attempt to get up there. They will bounce against the wall in the same way, appearing stuck. Again, give them time, and eventually they will make it up there. Francesca exudes happiness. The game continues. But I already passed this problem by using rev3207. Now I'm facing a new problem - the scenario is when Mario release punnies from blue cage - I can't see the 98 punnies, I only can see Punio, Punio's sister, and Puniper (the fat one). Well this is not the main problem - since I still can see their shadow, so I can still predict where they are. The main problem is each team I blow the Punnies with Flurrie ability - they will disappear. This problem very annoying, especially when punnies got fight with the jabbies - Just hope for my luck will come, and punnies will win the battle (Ow yeah, this is already happen in my 20th time trying - "Quick Save the Game" - I don't want to redo this again :p ). The second annoying problem is when Mario trapped in a cage with punnies and need to find a way out for them. All you need is Put the Punny Orb then blow the punnies down the hole, then go to the hole, pick them one by one, but wait a minute - I can see no one when I entered the hole. T_T.
