I'm still having crashes. Using DX9 plugin, safe texture and copy to ram enabled (and oddly cpu->efb too, or else it doesn't scan large objects, like Samus' ship). Occasionally it just hangs or gives the dozens of 'emu will now crash. enjoy' messages which also freeze it. Tried it in several revisions, but staying mostly with the Beta RC1, which gives me better speed. Any idea what might be causing these? :\

OK, how do you guys fix the scanning issue in MP2? I have EFB to RAM and of course that hack to avoid crashes. The game runs more or less like MP but I can't progress without the scan :/ EDIT2: Ah crap, the performance is worse. Mostly capped at 30FPS which is annoying, asap with any movements like enemies, charging, missile shooting it goes down to 20 plus I get errors right before I am going to save which is really annoying :S

Little update, found out disablign dual core stops the crashes, for some reason. Just finished it with 100% and am watching the final credits <3

I just tested with the new revision 5275 and it runs beautifully in the beginning at least, I guess I will have some slow downs like in chozo ruins in MP1 but still... However, I get huge flashes during non-working scanning visor but I have safe texture on (would crash often otherwise) and EFB to RAM (its annoying you can't pick it in the properties section, only EFB to texture default, forced or forced off...) Anyone got a solution? I want to play!!! EDIT2: OK..min 35, avg 57 and max 62 fps of course without enemies in a small room but still, I had MAX 25-30 before so HUGE difference hehe. This is how it looks when I scan: http://i43.tinypic.com/23sjdcw.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/2aj1g8o.jpg

Is it just me or is the music softer, almost barely audible in the latest revs with Metroid Prime 2? I've had to revert to using R4737 to be able to hear the music at a decent volume.
On an unrelated issue, I'm still having some scanning issues, perhaps due to my crappy Geforce 7100??? Now on the one hand, I have gotten it to sort of work with OpenGL, although with frameskipping on, the scanner seems to work only occasionally, say once out of every five attempts. However, I would really like to be able to use DirectX (because it is faster) and the scanner, but so far have been unable to scan AT ALL with that plugin. Now I have seen other people mention that they have been able to get the scanner working with DirectX, so I am suspecting that my Geforce 7100 may have something to do with it. Perhaps a feature that that card is not capable of performing??? I am sure that it is not an issue with the Dolphin settings. I know exactly what settings to use.. such as EFB to RAM and cpu->EFB and safe texture cache ....etc. So that is why I suspect that it is something specific to my system and/or graphics card that is causing the scanning problems with DirectX. I just did some further research and it appears that some of the scanning issues with DirectX appear to be mostly problematic with very large objects, specifically the ship in the first room and the tall pillar things and the door just past that first room and the very large dead creatures in the room below and the objects leaking pesticide in that room .... things of that nature. I was actually able to scan some of the smaller items like the crates using DirectX. That's kind of weird. Hopefully, the important things later in the game that need to scanned will be scannable. It'll be awkward having to switch back and forth to the OpenGL which acts flaky with frameskipping on. 04-08-2010, 03:41 AM
I would say it's your GPU causing the trouble but I am not sure what kind of minimum requirements there really are. One has to separate of what the actual game needs (eg, what the gamecube has to run it) and what the emulator. I am sure the game should handle lower spec because after all GameCube is old and it was super fast technological when it was released but for the emulator is one thing.
Anyway, I have noticed a lame thing..somehow with EFb to texture GL I get huge performance increase, instead of 30FPS MAX I get 30-35FPS MIN with it on but as sad as it is, the damn visor doesn't work. Either jump around with great performance or continue with crap, so I will wait for further revisions. Damn, I was so close and got so excited to continue playing! I have finished all the other Metroid games, only got prime 2 and 3 left :/

Hi I am also getting loads of crashes randomly-sometimes 5 minutes in, sometimes 15 minutes in. Safe texture cache is set to fast, the FIFO BP hack is enabled, and I have unchecked the "enable dual core" box. I am using revision 5460. I am also using the settings and suggestions posted in this thread: http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/thread-8333.html if that makes any difference. The game is running really well otherwise; does anyone have any idea what's going on?

maybe tlb hack? (right click on game, properties and check tlb hack) ...or disable dual core or idle skipping.
