Yes - I will get to that this evening EST. Will download using the halving method until I can pin down which version began having the glitching. I'll report back here once complete.
Full Screen - Vulkan - Graphical Glitching
|
5.0-17493 was the last working Dev version before the Vulkan glitch started - title tested was Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour for GC. I cannot reproduce the graphical glitch with this version, and that's after playing through 9 holes or more. Therefore, 5.0-17499 is the first Dev version to have this issue. Somewhat makes sense because there were some Vulkan changes noted in the changelog for these versions.
The issue isn't easily reproduced, and is fairly random, but after 4-5 holes in on a normal golf game or slots golf play (roughly 5-7 minutes into the game), the glitch will eventually surface. Graphics become artifacted and garbled to the point where the game becomes unplayable. Simply hitting Alt + Enter and getting out of full screen mode will fix the graphics, but the problem will resurface shortly thereafter. What appears to be happening graphics-wise is fixed or status elements on the screen become corrupted, OR everything BUT the status elements on the screen become corrupted, like some sort of depth buffer issue in Vulkan. I cannot confirm for certain which other GC titles might be affected by this potential Vulkan bug, if any. Hopefully this helps the developers pin down the issue. I don't know enough about what's going on under the hood to be of any further help.
I will let the developer of the change know. Thank you for bisecting!
Could you please fill out an issue report on our issue tracker on https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/? That will give a nice summary of the information in this thread and make it easier for the developer to review. EDIT: Snowblind, if you are still following this thread, I'd like you to post a confirmation in the issue report as well. Please say what your system specs are and that you have also encountered it. I'm having some serious glitches just like this in DKCR running vulkan latest dev build. Game freaks out. Was fine about a week ago.
@Forgottenkey - did you try this PR: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/11132 ?
I ask because I too have noticed an issue (with a Wii game called Opoona) caused by the command buffer PR. Some users are reporting 11132 fixes their issue but it did not for me. It'd be interesting to find another game or two that also still have issues. I haven't been able to find out what the appropriate fix is yet. EDIT: confirmed. I played the first level of Donkey Kong Country Returns and also noticed memory consistently going up... EDIT2: And now there's a PR that fixes the issue: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/11143 |
