I've been enjoying dolphin for well over a year now. I've played it on machines running Vista and 7, however recently I decided to give my 2000 machine a go at Dolphin. The machine itself has the processing power and other requirements to run games decently. And yes I am aware of the importance of updated drivers and DirectX.
Dolphin claims to be able to run on windows 2000. The emulator itself opens fine. (Of course to even get newer verisons to even open various tweaks had to be applied.
My main issue is this: The emulator will not recognize the plugins (specifically the gamepad/wiimote plugins). Direct3D does show up.
There are two reasons I can see as being the issue:
1) Microsoft discontinued support to Windows 2000 prior to releasing the June 2010 DirectX update. I cannot install this newest release. (However, I have installed the Feburary 2010 DirectX update.
2) The other thing I see mentioned repeatedly is about updating Visual C++ 2008. Or in the case of that machine installing it.
I am unable to grasp the importance of this program. I haven't had the need to install it on newer operating systems, a simple DirectX update solved plugin issues there. Keep in mind I am not compiling, just being an end user.
Any thoughts on this particular issue? Should I revert to older SVNs? If so, what particular SVN should I be using?
Additional information:
The newest SVNs and 2.0 both will open; in some of the newer SVNs the pad plugin is integrated into the core (takes care of that problem), but it still will not detect the wiimote plugin.
