When I close a game and stop emulation or click stop emulation in the dolphin menu, the emulator usually freezes and doesn't stop the game. I usually have to go to task manager and end the dolphin tasks to get it to close. What could be causing this problem? I am using one of the very latest dev builds (4.0-5283).
Dolphin does not stop emulation and sort of freezes

Do you have all the updates installed from Windows update? This sounds like a system issue.

What sound backend are you using? (try switching from what you're using to the other)

Yeah, try switching to OpenAL, as there have been issues with certain Audio cards/Windows 8 combos on XAudio2

I usually use XAudio2 in Dolphin because I heard one time a couple of years ago it was better then DirectSound and I use it in every other emulator I have that supports it.
Which audio backend is the best for Dolphin as of today? You recommend him OpenAL, is it better then DirectSound or XAudio2? I'm just asking out of curiosity because I don't have any problems with XAudio2 in general, at least not in 4.0.2. I had multiple crashes with newer revisions when I stopped emulation, it turned out to be Direct3D that caused them, but I had XAudio2 enabled. Anyway I'm just curious.... 01-26-2015, 06:26 AM
