I'm REALLY sorry if I'm being stupid, but yes, the bar can pick up the signals that the wiimote emits. But the bar is sending these signals to the Wii, which it is plugged into (theoretically). So how does Dolphin pick up signals that it's not plugged into?
I'm no expert at Dolphin, but at least I try!

no. you have it the other way around.
the bar is just a few infared lights. The wiimote has a little IR camera in it that picks up the lights, and sends the data to whatever it's connected to, be it a real wii, or Dolphin. 08-11-2017, 02:41 PM
Ohhhhhhhhhhhkay, now I see what you're saying.
So I have the bar connected to my idle Wii while I use the bar to work with Dolphun? Sweet. But I still want to use Dolphin while I'm away from my PC. Anyone have a solution to my current problem?

What do you mean away from your PC? You need a computer to play Dolphin.
Laptop? Use emulated wiimote mode or stick to games that don't need wiimotes. Android? Don't bother. Unless you have a top end 2017 device, most games are a slideshow. And even if you did, many popular games don't play at fullspeed without game breaking hacks. 08-11-2017, 03:35 PM
Oops, that was a typo. I meant away from my Wii (and subsequently my Sensor Bar).

Emulated wiimote mode or buy a USB sensor bar. They're pretty cheap on amazon

What does Emulated Wiimote have that Hybrid can't do?
I'm just afraid that switching will reset all of my config for all 4 controllers, so I've stuck with Hybrid.

But in case you want to be extra safe, you can make a backup of the Dolphin Emulator folder in Documents – that's where all the settings are stored (unless you've manually made Dolphin run in portable mode). 08-12-2017, 07:13 AM
Does emulated still retain being able to use both the computer and Wiimote at once? That's the thing I need, and a topic from a while ago on this forum suggested that IR might work on Hybrid.
