Have you played Super Mario Sunshine on the real GameCube? The heat effects is on the real console, and heat effects removed is not accurate emulation in my book.
I don't care if the image looks like someone smeared something over it, it's a genuine part of the game and not some kind of side effect from the emulator.
But yeah I believe you, if it's a hack then I can relax.

They're the supreme devs, they can do whatever they want.
People might start complaining that the heat effects is annoying and before you know it someone found a way to remove it completely.

Basically NeoBrainX did it to have some fun with FIFO player, it was not committed anywhere and it was just a hack posted here (coincidentally) by a dev
