Controller C stick mapping issue

I have a DragonRise USB controller and when I map C stick, it shows input just fine. When I map the control stick, the c stick moves left and right when i move the control stick left and right and when i move the c stick by itself up and down it curves to the left or right. Is this a problem with the controller or is it some kind of mapping bug with dolphin?

the control stick shows up just fine without any other axis moving. the c stick registers up and down but not side to side
