I just loaded up dolphin on my shield and I'm getting black screen on every game, if I change Vulkan to opengl everything runs fine, is this right? I thought Vulcan was better...

Is this the 2015 or the 2017 model?

2015 16gb model, and I've used Vulcan with dolphin before and it worked. I have installed latest apk 5.0-2103. I can hear audio in background so game is running

Sounds like you're hitting the video driver bug that is in the shield version 3.3.
Wait until the new version 5.0 of the SHIELD software to come out to use Vulkan and use OpenGL in the meantime.
Version 5.0 fixes the video driver bug.

Oh OK I didn't realise it was a software update problem, I literally updated to 3.3 a few days ago lol. Thanks for that

Updated yesterday. Still get black screen. Albeit, it is possible that my built is too old. Any pointers on what the last working built might be?

Update. Just tried the latest nightly build. Vulkan works, with tremendous performance increase over OpenGL.

Latest master still crashed out when I ended a game of Twilight Princess.

Performance is definitely better, though mainly in empty spots in the regularly laggy areas, both Hyrule and Kakariko Village seem to run about the same speeds but calling an already there Epona from a decent distance in Hyrule Field makes it hit 30fps when time is stopped within the cutscene duration.

retroben: Sounds like the ZTP hack isn't enabled. The performance should be the same on Vulkan and OpenGL. "should".

I have the longer version of the code for it enabled instead,I can tell because the maps lack the edge-shading on them.
How do I properly enable it via the command within the GZ2E01 ini file?

Performance is better on it,Vulkan definitely runs better than before, its just identically slowing down in some of the same spots while faster in others.
