Hi there. So I decided to give Ishiiruka Dolphin a try and noticed that it uses the same settings file as the master Dolphin release. Can having both of these build share the same settings file cause any problems or conflicts with games or the emulator itself. Cheers.
Are custom builds safe?

If they do (I'm not sure) you can just create a file call portable.txt in the same place as dolphin.exe and they will keep everything to themselves

You'll probably see DX9 selected in Ishiiruka while master has OpenGL selected due to it sharing the same index, but other than that, there shouldn't be any problems.
Just to make things clear: for any support or question regarding Ishiiruka, please post that in the Ishiiruka thread. (07-02-2016, 12:10 AM)JosJuice Wrote: That won't lead to any problems. That's completely wrong. The right answer is "we can't possibly know", because they are custom builds and they could be doing whatever their author wants. That includes removing your configuration, installing malware on your machine, or anything else you can think of. We try to avoid compatibility problems between official versions of the emulator, but with custom builds all bets are off. That's why we don't offer any support for them here, we don't allow people to advertise them unless there is a very good reason to do so, and we make people mark their forum threads as explicitly "unofficial". 07-02-2016, 02:35 AM
Yes, it's true that a custom build potentially could do anything, but this question was about Ishiiruka specifically. I don't think Tino is going to add any big problems like that. That's of course not a guarantee, though.

I just want to know if there was any risk of game or software breaking bugs that could be saved meaning that I would have to start over. 07-02-2016, 06:19 AM
I will never add a thing to my builds that compromise or break anything ( int the security side , in gaming side i can introduce an issue or two I'm human and i can make mistakes ), I'm a software developer and my only interest is to have fun developing the emu, so from mi you can be sure you will not get any malware, 7 years with dolphin can give me credit on that.

Yes, to clarify my message is not judging any particular custom build, I was just replying more generally about custom builds. While I disagree about some of the choices, I have no doubt that Ishiiruka is safe to use.
