Currently using the DX9 Plugin. I'm tried this with all the games and all resolutions. I'm aware that's where I change the resolution for fullscreen. But I still get the crash when switching from window mode to fullscreen or from switching to fullscreen to window mode. I can run the game fullscreen only by having the start renderer in fullscreen option checked or if I change modes right as I start the game. (I click a game and run it and switch modes as soon as I can when the new window pops up but before the game logos or anything else comes up, then it would change properly. But once the game is loaded and boots up, mode switching crashes)
EDIT: Switched to the OpenGL plugin. No crash on mode change. Though at this point I want to use the DX plugin because it's better.....
EDIT: Ok maybe not better? So far the game seems to run faster with the OpenGL plugin. I was able to use my monitor's native resolution and test hyrule field and noticed no slow down....hmm..I haven't tested the OpenGL plguin since the first version of Dolphin I downloaded. (the version I downloaded off the main page and not the SVN revisions). I'll use the OpenGL plugin from now on unless there is effects or something later on in the game that brakes when using this plugin.
EDIT: Ok now I know why it was running better at higher res. It was only stretching the image to fill the new resolution. (precisely the feature I wanted in the DX plugin). If only the DX plugin had this.
Also trying the native res in DX9 still results in crash because the plugin still changes the resolution even though it's the same.
So the crash on mode change seems to only affect the DX9 plugin.
