I have default settings on everything, its even on native resolution =/. for the record: I use to have a Zotac GeForce 8500 GT and play games using 800x600 flawlessly, the only thing I change is the GPU... maybe is a driver problem? I'm reading in the forum similar problems >_<... 06-30-2012, 12:14 PM
Sounds like I driver problem to me. Try grabbing the latest driver from the nVidia website. I've had mine for almost 6 months and it's been running like a champ since Day 1. The 550 Ti has been out for awhile, so I'd expect that most outstanding issues would have been taken care of by now.

I have the latest driver: 304.48 and still the same 10 fps on any game =/ i'm gonna format my PC just for the sake of it an see if "fix" something. 07-01-2012, 10:57 AM
How much VRAM do you clowns have? With my revision for the 3 Zeldas, I get 30-60 FPS for the most part. And I have 856 MB of RAM.

I believe I was having similar issues as well. I noticed that Dolphin doesn't make the graphics card max out under a significant amount of load automatically. I have a Galaxy NVIDIA Geforce 680 GTX with an over clocked i5-2500k (can get up to 4.8GHZ), and I was still able to see problems with the framerate in games like Metroid.
However, providing that you have the NVidia CP installed, it's easy to force the graphics card to run at maximum performance. Just open up the Nvidia Control Panel, add a profile for Dolphin.exe, and for the Power Management mode option select "Prefer Maximum Performance" and save your settings. The next time you run a game under Dolphin, the graphics card will max out so that the power management feature wont limit performance. I'm not familiar with ATI's drivers or cards, but I know that NVIDIA uses Adaptive Power Management by default. So maybe your problem is with the NVidia driver's solution for power management? Try out what I did and see if it makes Metroid run better, because it definitely did for me. Before I made this change in the Nvidia CP settings, Metroid had the framerate in some areas be around 50fps and even 30 at times. I was able to play at a constant framerate of 60 even with 4X IR and LLE Audio after making a profile with the changes - so it's definitely worth a shot. |
