The game is still broken as of today. I am using the stable build 4.0.2 x64. I have to use alt+F5 to get through the WiiMote and nunchuck screen. I was able to start a game but at the very first cutscene the lady says the first line about fish and then nothing. I can move the wiimote cursor around, but I can't do anything else. I understand this is similar to the initial post, but just wanted share that it hasn't changed yet unfortunately. Thanks!

The root for the freeze is most likely the missing audio output.
Means, an event starts with the playback of audio files. If the audio cannot be played back (for whatever reason), the game cannot load new events. 03-08-2015, 02:58 PM
So I ended up getting past the infamous bug at the start of the game where you can't get past the tutorial. I did this by extracting a Red Steel save from my Wii that was already past the tutorial via Homebrew and then importing it to Dolphin.
Though, getting past the tutorial was bittersweet. Being further in the game, you realize why it was bugged in the first place. EVERY time you talk to someone in the game it will freeze. That's why you can't advance in the tutorial because the first thing that happens is your fiance talking to you. Not only that but there's this weird grainy filter that will pop up and make everything look pixelated, as you will see in the video. Last thing is that there seems to be only ambient audio playing, such as your footsteps. The speech from characters doesn't come through and switching audio engines did nothing for me. If anybody wants to play around with it. Get a legal copy of NTSC Red Steel iso and then download the save file I've provided here. Drop it into your Rom save folder by right-clicking the rom in your directory and then you're all ready to go. Here's the video I captured with all the stuff I described above: My settings used in the video: http://imgur.com/a/k3S9d Save File: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2wc64w19817sln...e.zip?dl=0 03-08-2015, 05:52 PM
Wow, core issues, gfx issues, sound issues and performance issues (I guess an i5 should be able to get full speed at what's going on on the screen there). This might be Dolphin's mostly bugged game nowadays.

So it doesn't matter which kind of audio dialog will come up. As soon as the dialog cannot be played back and finished the game won't go on. It's most likely related to audio. You can also not hear any background music in the main menu. 03-15-2015, 02:44 PM

Still broken in 5.0. Shame as everything aside from the sound hanging runs fine.
