I found this setting useful for nearly every texture in the game because the artwork setting can output textures that look painted, even with the noise setting set to none. The photo setting outputs crisper edges and doesn't generate paint drips or gloss. Using the photo setting and noise set to none outputs really clean textures that closely match the originals. When I said toy around with the settings for different textures, I meant the settings on the waifu sites; sorry for not clarifying that.
I already found the site, but I think its better to use a windows application, so you dont have to upload all pics. Heres the windows app https://github.com/lltcggie/waifu2x-caffe
One nice feature in the windows app is the free upscalle value, so you can even upscale the textures by 3 or 4
What do you mean exactly? Why is this necessary? I thought dolphin dumps all loaded Textures...
One useful technique I did for a lot of textures was to first use the photo or artwork setting and mid to highest noise setting for the first 2x run through, download the texture, then use the photo and no noise settings for another 2x run through. This creates a really nice and crisp 4x you can't get from doing one 4x run with the same settings. On the other hand, to get the goos super smooth and paint-like I used the artwork and highest noise setting for 3 individual 2x runs.
