That chart only shows that an i7 Ivy is more than enough as far as I saw.

Yes, and that there are other CPUs are even more strong than yours... Have you tried disabling the power saving mode on your NVidia driver?

Direct X is one of the only things Micro Shafter ever did right and it will fade away with Steam being pushed to *NIX platforms. Programmers have a choice what AS I to use and the world is moving to open standards. I remember a company in the late 90s that created an open platform for 3d rendering that translated calls to all known APIs and even mixed in software render before if that platform did not support a feature in a mixed type of mode. I don't recall what ever happened to that project, but Open Go seems to becoming the defacto fast. Regardless, in my personal opinion portability of code is of the highest importance and I am highly impressed with the progress of this project. 05-30-2014, 02:58 AM
Direct X is a long LONG way from fading away.
Replacing Direct X is like replacing Windows. It won't happen. Only hipsters and masochists run a different OS. Mantle was a flop in my book, the only reason developers are using it is because AMD paid them to. Wasting time and money programming a game to use an API that 1% of your playerbase will even use is a waste. I know little about OpenGL, so I can't speak for that. It seems to be used more often in non Windows systems. Again a problem, because Microsoft has a huge monopoly on operating systems. Test876 Wrote:Only hipsters and masochists run a different OS. I'm going to verbally warn you for trolling (because you know that statement's not true, if not, take some time to think about why). Again a problem, because Microsoft has a huge monopoly on operating systems. It gets a lot of attention of Windows, especially for applications that need to be cross-platform. Commercial games are the exception, since those are (at this time) primarily directed at Windows gamers. The market trend seems to beg to disagree with Microsoft and proprietary standards. As for the hipsters statement, hipsters are people who take stance, I use what ever tool is best for the job. I do not engage in the tribal disputes of what operating system is the best answer to everything. Therefor, ironically enough, it seems that your impulsive statement was somewhat hipsterish. . .actually I believe the proper term would be sycophantic, as that relates more in regards to a participant under the influence of the "madness of crowds" Sociological phenomenon. One of the best friends of the system of corrupt capitalism is a person who is afraid of change. |
