It isn't absurd if the problem is software related, in which case it doesn't matter how good your hardware is. Verify that you have the latest drivers for your GPU and try the most current Dolphin Git revision. You also might want to post your settings here so we can take a look at them.

My GPU drivers are always up to date. I'm using 3.0 but I've tried running it with the latest Dolphin release. I've done a trial-and-error process in my settings to try to isolate the variable, but no luck. During all in-game cutscenes and certain areas, my FPS drops down to 20. But here's my settings anyways... http://imgur.com/a/xhBKD There's 6 pages of settings 10-14-2012, 03:49 PM
Just some suggestions for speed...
1. I wouldn't use Auto - Window Size for the resolution. It isn't as good as manually changing the IR. 2. Try using LLE on Thread. It should help since you have a quad core CPU.
Desktop:
OS: Windows 7 64 bit CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K @ 4.4 GHz GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Factory OC'ed) RAM: 16 GB @ 1600 MHz Dolphin Revision:3.0, 3.0-784, 3.5, latest 3.5 10-14-2012, 04:06 PM
Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work either.
Something to note though, when I turn the frame limit off, and disable audio throttle, the FPS shoots through the roof, and the game runs wayyyy too fast. After more trial and error, I literally cannot get it to find the right medium. It's either too fast or too slow. :/ 10-14-2012, 09:51 PM

I personaly have Framelimit Off + Audio Throttle disabled (Dolphin 3.0). I don't know how you can get the game too fast . What fps do you get? Are you really using LLE?

Whenever i tweak with the settings, it always goes above way 30 with sound glitches, or around 20. It only happens in certain parts though, most of the time it's at 30, it's just those certain parts that drop to 20 fps. and yeah, i am. i downloaded the dsp_coef and dsp_rom from a torrent, but the comments said it was good. i don't have a wii or SD card so I couldn't do it myself. i also tried using HLE...didn't make a difference except it had even more sound bugs. gah. |
