I see. Thanks for the information. So it only works on D3D11 then.
DolphinFX - (Post-processing suite for the OpenGL backend)

Overall, with the exception of SCII from earlier, I haven't noticed any problems so far. I do have some criticisms on how the bloom looks, as it seems to use multiple layers to "blur" the light for the bloom effect instead of actually blurring a layer and applying it over the screen.
And I have a request, would it be possible to add SMAA to this? I just personally prefer SMAA over FXAA, and it's fine if it's not added.
Would implementing SMAA be possible? Also It would be cool to be able to inject under the interfaces of games so bloom or AA wouldn't blur things that need to be legible.
I already use sweetfx so this is some great news. https://github.com/scrawl/smaa-opengl Here's SMAA: OFF: Spoiler: Spoiler: Of all the post process AA solutions I've seen, SMAA seems to be the least blurry looking. Ignoring Halo 1 PC's lack of anisotrophic filtering of course. (11-21-2013, 06:38 AM)Truth Unknown Wrote: Overall, with the exception of SCII from earlier, I haven't noticed any problems so far. The blur is being blended with whatever type of blend you've chosen, not 'layered'. If you don't like the default setup, you can change the blend power, the blend type, & the blur spread. Tbf I provide enough options to practically change whatever you want for each effect. What you're asking for is basically a saturated gaussian blur or something. I knew it would only be a matter of time before somebody mentioned SMAA lol. No SMAA atm. It would require further internal coding for it to work. If you don't like the FXAA, use NFAA. (or use h/w AA) icejiub : please put your images in spoiler tags. 11-21-2013, 09:17 AM

NFAA is similar to SMAA 1x, by the way. Make sure to use the options to customize effects. I can't make one golden holy grail config that will please all, unfortunately ----------------------------------- Updated OP to 1.15; Improved the Filtering, and separate tone options, I didn't end up liking the ones I added yesterday. Notes; Updated BiCubic FS filtering (I wasn't happy with the previous version, so I've changed it) - Added 4 different interpolation types: CatMullRom, BSpline, Triangular, Bell. Updated the 2 extra tone mapping types I added yesterday in the previous version. Also because I didn't like the implementation. Types are: Natural, Cinematic, Vivid. Changed Bloom's blend power back to a default 1, and lowered sharpening clamp to compensate. 11-21-2013, 08:17 PM
Tried the latest version with bicubic filtering and noticed one thing: Dolphin does a terrible job when increasing the internal resolution for 2d images, with 3x internal resolution and bicubic filtering i am getting way worse results that 1x internal resolution and no filtering at all (used an Snes Virtual console game for testing). The 2d images with increased internal resolution become way too blocky.
Should I disable AA in the graphics configuration if I use FXAA or NFAA?

I'll need to use the vs to do stuff like Scalex, and HQx, xBR, etc, for sprite oriented games though. It's up to you, speed permitting, you can use both. -- In other news; I've gotten High Quality FXAA 3.11 working with dolphin. Its far superior to the current version that was used as a placeholder. I had to find a work around for some luma edge detection problems, that were causing it to output incorrectly, or not at all. I'll update the OP with it, when I'm done tweaking/testing. Edit: Here's a comparison screen of no fxaa, the new fxaa, and old fxaa: (Images are 4x zoomed) FXAA Differences |
