I quickly tested this and there was no improvement since it was already keeping the 2nd thread on a real core. And as it stands I'm already getting full speed with sound.
you would not need any framskipping at all anymore.
(fullspeed with sound)
this also happens to most normal games on your mashine.
you will have a speedup and higher min-fps.

Greetings, ladies and germs; I'm sorry for a thread revival, but I'm actually having a similar issue where every recent build of Dolphin (some of the older ones are fine, ironically, but won't support some of the games I want to play) I try at the moment seems to have that 1/10 of a second delay on the sound when playing games.
In my case, I've already tried to disable "Lock Threads to Cores" so I'm not sure my fix will be quite as simple. Since I've tried everything within the GUI to try and fix it (to no success, obviously), I'll give skid's advice a go and create a build with edited settings and report back if there are any changes (and probably if there aren't as well). I note that Virge and my setups share a similarity in that we both have X-fi cards; I'm not sure if that's significant though. 05-10-2010, 03:33 AM
Right. Apparently VBS Express doesn't want to play ball with me, so it looks like I WON'T be trying to the edits that Skid suggested. CURSES.
I'll bump this one final time on the offchance that anyone else has something to try, but barring that I'll let this die and come back to Dolphin next time I rebuild my PC (looking at Summer, if my system stability is anything to go by), and see if it was a hardware issue. 05-10-2010, 05:29 AM
wat art thou specs? (what r ur specs)
Checkout my latest project ( it is a program that downloads and compiles dolphin on mac and linux now): http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu-downloader (It's unofficial and maintained by me, not the dolphin dev team) 05-11-2010, 05:30 AM

Mid-way through post edit: Apparently it was that simple: Dolphin doesn't like something about my X-Fi. I just unplugged my headset from my X-Fi and plugged it into the mobo, set the onboard to default and Robert's your mother's brother, it works flawlessly. How odd. Should I report that somewhere? 05-11-2010, 10:39 AM
I would like if I may, to chime in on this, and extend all due apologies in advance if this topic isn't appropriate for this thread. I have noticed that using the DirectSound plugin, I get garbled sound during intros/cut scenes in Mario Kart Wii, Wario Land Shake It!, and Super Mario Galaxy. In game, the sound is perfect with the DirectSound plugin; it's only cut scenes and intros that seem to be a problem, and only in the above mentioned games. I've tried switching to the OpenAL sound plugin, which cures the garbled sound during intros/cut scenes, but then the sound has momentary dropouts where . . .it . . sounds . . . kinda . . .like . . .this (and it continues in game; not exclusively at the intros/cut scenes). I've tried playing around with various settings, and have even tried running Dolphin through Creative Alchemy (version 1.41.02; newest, released barely a month ago) but without any luck. It is a very minor annoyance, but if anyone has any suggestions that might help, I would appreciate it.
Using Dolphin 2.0 using real wiimote 08-28-2010, 03:36 AM
For those who have sound delay or any problems especially the owners of any X-FI Creative Sound Card , do the following to fix the sound problem "valid for R.E Remake" :-
1-Go ahead and download the latest new version of the dolphin emu. 2-update your sound , video , windows through the internet . 3-it would be better if you overclock CPU especially for the < 3 GHZ Speed CPUz. 4-undo any applied sound filters or effects off from the Creative Control panel "i.e deactivate X-FI Crystalyzer and X-FI CMSS-3D ...etc." this step is so important. 5-follow my configuration for the dolphin as follow : I- Under the General Tab : activate the following "i.e mark it " a-Enable Dual Core b-Enable OpenCL c-JITIL Experimental recompiler d-Frame limit Auto II- Under Plugins : For the Graphic i do recommend using the Direct3D 11 "although it wouldn't be problematic if another used , in case of troubles try choosing another one". | | > activate the following under the configuration of the Video plugin, i- under Direct3D Tab : 1-Enable CPU >EFB Access 2-Enable Safe Texture Cache , and select "mark" Fast. ii - under advanced Tab : 1-Enable EFB Copy. 2-EFB Scaled Copy. 3-Enable 16x Anisotropy filter. > Enter the config of DSP plugin "AKA Sound plugin" : Select audio Backend "OpenAL" check all choices except the audio throttling. now give the game a try it should work fine 100 % speed and approximately 100% sound and music. I hope this was informative for you . Best Regards . Richard McCain. 08-28-2010, 04:36 AM
