Sony Vaio Specifications Help - Echo466 - 06-09-2010

[align=center] Its definitely been a while since I have actually made my copys from my gamecube and tried to run them seen as my old computer wasnt up to par really, so therefore I need some Input on the new labtop I have and what all you guys think since im not absolutely sure with these new I3-7 Processors...

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core i5-430m Processor 2.53Gh'z
Graphics Processor: Intel Media Graphics Accelerator HD
RAM: 4Gigabyte Ram

So I would prefer people that know what these processors are capable of, because as far as i know it is a single core processor that handles Multithreaded tasks, thus the equivalent of a dual core if not better but I dont know for sure...not to mention I cant find anything on that damm Graphics card when it comes to a dedicated Memory cache...Thanks guys Smile

What do ya mean
If you ask : "dolphin can run smoothly on my laptop"
Answer: No,"Intel Media Graphics Accelerator HD" is bottle-neck.It can't handle dolphin well because it's a onboard graphic card
People only buy a good CPU and total forget about a good graphic card. How pitiful !!!

Well, I'm not going to get into everything here with you right now, but that graphics card is either going to stop you completely, or it will seriously limit what that PC can do. What that means is that it may or may not work at all with Dolphin, or if it does work, games will not be able to run very well.

What a waste of otherwise good hardware. It is a shame that they package that crappy Intel garbage in with it.

RE: Sony Vaio Specifications Help - Echo466 - 06-09-2010

Well its a good thing i didnt buy it lol, i reserved it...but thanks for the help Smile So would a ATI Radeon 4200HD Be any better?

RE: Sony Vaio Specifications Help - Starscream - 06-09-2010

It would be better, (that is the card that is in my laptop) but it is still really not good enough for high graphic settings. I'd say it is decent enough to get the job done. Not terrible.

RE: Sony Vaio Specifications Help - admin89 - 06-09-2010

Well, this one is the best for now ,the price is not so high

RE: Sony Vaio Specifications Help - Echo466 - 06-09-2010

Alright, thanks youre help is greatly Appreciated, but just one other Question, so the other model of the Dell had a Graphics card labeled exactly as this
"Intel HD Graphics (up to 1696Mb)"
But im guessing it is once again a very bad choice due to the fact its a onboard shared Graphics card right? Probably as bad as the GMAHD

RE: Sony Vaio Specifications Help - Starscream - 06-09-2010

Stay away from anything that says "Intel" as the graphics card. ATI or Nvidia is what you want to see.

RE: Sony Vaio Specifications Help - admin89 - 06-09-2010

All Intel gfx card is bad, that's all
About "Intel HD Graphics (up to 1696Mb)" it's a shared memory which mean :
In shared memory for video, the memory used for displaying the contents on the screen, will be part of the memory used by the computer for other tasks. In other words, your video RAM will actually be a part of the all-purpose system RAM. Thus, if your computer has a system RAM of 64 MB, and the current monitor settings (screensize, pixels per inch etc) require 8 MB of memory to function correctly, then your operating system and applications will have only 56 MB of RAM available to them. The other 8 MB of RAM is shared with the computer's display, and since the display is always on, it's never available for anything but video/display. This means the programs and applications you run now have 8MB less of memory in which to operate at all times.
"Virtual memory" to say exactly
P.S : You should change the post title to "Laptop can run dolphin smoothly" or sthing So then it will less work for us
