Few Questions - Blaize - 05-18-2010

First off, I'm new here and don't know much about the emulator in general, so I have a lotta questions. Fairly obvious, I'd like to know, realistically, whether or not my laptop can run any games. If you need anymore details just say. By the way, I'm mostly looking to run Gamecube games, not Wii.

Windows Vista
AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-75 2.2GHz
3gb RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 Series, 1784mb

Also, my laptop can run PCSX2, FFX full speed XII mostly full speed, just to give some extra info.

My next question is, how do controllers work? With PCSX2 (Sorry for referring to it yet again, but hey) you can connect a PS3 controller and use that. Is that possible with Dolphin? Or is there a way to connect an X360 controller, because I don't have a GC controller. Can buy one though, I guess.

Next, do Wii games really work? I've seen some videos and it looked pretty damn good, but how does it work? Do you have to, like attach the sensor bar to the top of your laptop or something, or can you just use the mouse?

Lastly (I think), from what I've read, there are a lot of different versions. I think it went open a while back and so loads of people have added to it, but on the website there is the official 2.0 build. Can someone point me in the direction of the correct, or best build?

Oh, and I have looked for answers to these questions, but couldn't find anything solid. Thanks.

*Edit* One more thing, knew I forgot something. Two games, Tales of Symphonia and Super Mario Sunshine; how well do they both work?

You'll probably get good speeds with that specs.
Yes, Wii games do work very well atm Smile, you can use a xbox 360 or your keyboard and mouse.
Use the builds that mamario compiles or the official builds.

About the 2 games (Tales of Symphonia and Super Mario Sunshine) the answer is yes, they work well for me and what I've seen on youtube Wink.

Except for the missing sound in Tales of Symphonia... >.>

True, forget to say >_<, sorry :p.

RE: Few Questions - thaCASHdude - 05-18-2010

yeah your specs are pretty good.

Thank you for the quick responses Smile I thought I'd have a go and tried to play Mario Kart Double Dash, but it didn't work particularly well Sad 50-60% speeds I think, although 100% in menus. I looked around for good configs and messed about a bit myself, but is there anything else I can do? Also, is this game difficult to play on Dolphin? I don't really want to try other games if they are definetly sure to not work if mario kart doesn't, ya know? Thanks again.

Oh, and one of my original questions went unanswered. Do you set up a Wii sensor bar, or use your mouse, or are both options?
