specified SVNs for specified games?? - hansenderek - 05-14-2010

hey just throwin this out there but dolphin svns arent tht big...so a person could own like 7or 8 of them on one computer easily....

so it could be a pretty good idea to create svns for certain problematic games or batches of games tht work perfectly off certain configs...for the time being tht is until the perfect dolphin comes out lol but ya just an idea

Oh but that is basically what has happened, that is the beauty and curse of open source software. Wink

just because it can happen doesnt mean it should. It should be a goal to have one build that can do everything.

Yup it should, but if it's possible... Meh, I just hope for the best aye :p. (One build that can do everything! Big Grin)

Generally both users and developers are very interested in specific revisions that games function with or don't, particularly if such vacillates over time. Right now, due to few individuals both having a library of releases/titles and the willingness to do the testing, minimal good info exists. Revisions that break games are typically quickly identified, but revisions that fix them may be missed for significant periods of time before someone picks up on them.

I'd suggest the compatibility wiki pages as a good place to start logging revisions ranges that work/don't with games, if someone does have a willingness to do the testing. Being able to indicate full ranges of working vs non-working revisions would certainly be preferred over the typical "works for me on rXXXX" feedback.

Pretty much what you have to do is take a Saturday and Youtube the game name + dolphin and then get the version that the dude says runs good and copy his settings...THEN search the next game, get that version, rinse and repeat. Create shortcuts of the emulator every time and name it the game names. There will always be that one revision that runs most of them so it shouldn't get too crazy unless you are on a mission to see every game run whether you actually like the game or not (I would probably do it if I weren't busy with three kids and going back to college).
