why does dolphins keyboard support suck? - inflikkt - 05-05-2010 I want to start off by saying, im not a nub to emulators. Ive been running them since that dos version of nesticle, zsnes, pj64, and pcsx to name a few. Initially they all required some tweaking, especially to get the graphics to function at an optimal level, but this problem with dolphin? This confounds me. It has problems with *keyboard* support? what the heck?! I've read around the forum and I know I'm not alone. This seems like the most ludicrous issue. How can it not be able to map my keyboard buttons? And how does this support differ from user to user? Aren't all keyboards basically run under the same default windows drivers? I wonder if my problem relates to me having windows 7 (ultimate x64). I can successfully RUN the games, just without keyboard controls. In the wiimote map buttons setup, when i click on a button to change it, and then push a keyboard key.. it does not pop up as changed. It just gets stuck. Can anyone offer some help? I've read some older strings about different controller/keyboard plugins to try, but when i do a search in google or on the site, I can't find any download links, just old dead forum posts. I've literally spent an entire day racking my brain at this problem and it is really frustrating. I'm going to try to buy a gamepad soon to see if it will work with that.. but i would love to just be able to use the keyboard (and mouse if possib). Thanks for reading. this really sucks. Things I've tried :: -downloaded both versions x64 and x86. Buttons dont respond. -tried several older builds with different default controller plugins. Buttons dont respond. -tried to run in administrator/xp sp2/3/etc/various. No difference. -tried to update my direct x on several older links and on the newest windows update downloadable. No change. what can i try>? RE: why does dolphins keyboard support suck? - Billiard26 - 05-05-2010 You could give the "GCPad New" or "Wiimote New" plugins a try. They are both in the svn. GCPad New is in Dolphin 2.0 also. RE: why does dolphins keyboard support suck? - darkshadw - 05-05-2010 Or how 'bout the KB plugin? (PadSimple) KB Plugin RE: why does dolphins keyboard support suck? - TCad - 05-06-2010 I've been having the same problem and I own a saitek cyborg v2 rumble pad which works fine on my other emulators including N64. I will try these plugins you suggested and post back if they worked for me, also. RE: why does dolphins keyboard support suck? - kernel64 - 05-06-2010 You can also spend a few bucks (about 5$) on a Bluetooth dongle and hook up your wiimote to your PC. RE: why does dolphins keyboard support suck? - inflikkt - 05-06-2010 i cant download any of the svn links available on the main site. do i need to log in? this forum user name and pass is not letting me.. when i click on the svn download links it links to some code.google page that says google error / server error. im looking up and down the site for just the direct links to download the plugins that you mentioned also but I can't find them anywhere... on the main download link all i see is dolphin 2 in its various os formats. wheres the page to dl just plugins? or svn? RE: why does dolphins keyboard support suck? - Billiard26 - 05-06-2010 Google code is under maintenance right now. That's why you are getting the server errors. You could download a build from http://www.dolphin-emu.org/ if you don't want to build it yourself. He has a script set up that automatically compiles every svn revision. RE: why does dolphins keyboard support suck? - thaCASHdude - 05-06-2010 google code should be working now. RE: why does dolphins keyboard support suck? - inflikkt - 05-06-2010 cool. at least now im getting somewhere. dling the svn and using the wiinew plugin is working. im still having great difficulty mapping out the controls but they are responding so hopefully i can figure it out eventually. thanks, much appreciated responses |
