MH Tri: FPS Issues (Why so choppy @ 30fps) - conductor_bosh - 05-04-2010 EDIT: I keep hearing that the game is supposed to run at 30FPS, but I don't see how that can be true: all the videos I've seen of the game running on the wii (not to mention the fact that I've played it on a friend's wii) look much smoother. So, it took me a good hour or so of reading around on these forums, but I finally got my US version of Monster Hunter Tri up and running on my computer. I've been playing for about two hours, and digging it (though I'm a bit upset that we can no longer kill Kelbi, haha). Aside from my characters skin texture occasionally going black, the game runs without any actual errors or glitches. The performance, however, is not good. I always get between 20-30 FPS; the average is probably 26. Sometimes it drops below 20 when a lot is going on, but it never breaks 30. I definitely have the TLB hack on, I have CPU->EFB off, all that stuff; I've read loads of posts and I have all the settings right. I've tried several different resolutions both windowed and full-screened, I've tried turning bloom on and off, I've tried the framelimit at auto, 60, and turned off, I've tried running it through Dolphin and through DolphinIL; nothing seems to increase the FPS. I've read posts about and even seen videos of people playing this game Dolphin and it running much more smoothly. Can someone help me get my FPS up? My Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.53GHz 4GB Ram Nvidia 9800GT And I'm using Spellforce's 4830 verison of Dolphin. RE: MH Tri: FPS Issues (Why so choppy @ 30fps) - Thundering - 05-04-2010 Gimme two seconds, I had your same problem and I clicked a button that bumped me up to 30. I was 26 constantly, now I'm 30 constantly. Screenshot of your settings so I can compare against mine please I think its the disable fog checkbox, under advanced dx9 graphic options I wish I could disable the bloom; the game runs fine, but the bloom is a little blurry to be honest RE: MH Tri: FPS Issues (Why so choppy @ 30fps) - tedios - 05-04-2010 (05-04-2010, 05:50 AM)Thundering Wrote: Gimme two seconds, I had your same problem and I clicked a button that bumped me up to 30. Also you get 60VPS right? I found that 30 is the way it meant to be played else I'd never get a well done steak.

RE: MH Tri: FPS Issues (Why so choppy @ 30fps) - naoan - 05-04-2010 Generally you want 60 for ntsc and 50 vps for pal, and if you hit 20 fps (where it got choppy) in certain place/situtation then it just means that your system is not powerful enough to cope with the added load; you need to overclock your cpu. RE: MH Tri: FPS Issues (Why so choppy @ 30fps) - Thundering - 05-04-2010 Just a heads up you guys, I'm using 4830. Not spellforce, just plain old 4830. Spellforce didn't work for me. |
