System freeze from Dolphin Esc or Alt + Enter - DaRkL3AD3R - 03-16-2010 Hello, I am using recent build 5190 and whenever I press alt + enter to go from fullscreen to windowed or vice versa, OR I press escape to I presume stop emulation, Dolphin freezes my system for about 30 seconds. Nothing seems to work at all during this time system wise until eventually the emulator kicks back in and wakes up. This happens regardless of settings or game played. I mean I can wait it out and everything is fine, however for the duration of time I am waiting it is really scary to have my system hard lock on me like that =/ Running Windows XP x64 Professional with an Intel Q6600 2.4ghz, 8GB ram and Nvidia GTX 285 1GB card. Anyone else getting this issue? RE: System freeze from Dolphin Esc or Alt + Enter - bkirst90 - 03-16-2010 I use an older build r4585 cause dx9 works better, but i hit the same issue sporadically when resizing the window or going to full screen. Idk if my system ever comes back though. I think i've waited longer than 30 seconds and it hasn't come back, i usually hard reset. RE: System freeze from Dolphin Esc or Alt + Enter - GodRays - 03-16-2010 Does it happen when dual core is disabled ? Does it happen for both gfx plugins ? Looking at more like a full 60+ seconds. (03-16-2010, 06:58 AM)GodRays Wrote: Does it happen when dual core is disabled ? Both graphics plugins thats a yes. However I just tried it with disabling Dual Core and its almost instant with how fast it re-engages the emulator. Before if I started in full screen and pressed ALT + Enter to go to windowed my system would freeze for a whole minute or more, now with Dual Core disabled if I do that it takes <5 seconds to come back to emulation. Thats strange to me... wonder why it does that? Maybe because I am using a quad core processor? EDIT: After testing the emulator with multiple settings, starting with disabling Dual Core and re-enabling it to see if theres a difference, I am unable to reproduce the minute long lag spike that would happen when changing window to full screen. I have tried re-enabling dual core, using JIT and JITIL, changing the Buffer to RAM AND Texture and nothing I can do is making it lag like it did before. I've even closed and re-opened Dolphin multiple times to make sure there was no strange issues tied in to it. Wierd... EDIT 2: OK I found out what triggers it, if I start emulation with either graphics plugin set to FULLSCREEN defaultedly, then try to ALT + Enter back out of it then it locks up and takes a long time to re-adjust, however if I start in Windowed mode and then ALT + Enter back and forth it works flawlessly. The problem is however my windowed resolution is 640x480 so it doesn't take up my full desktop and my Full screen resolution is 1600x1200, and when I start in Windowed mode then switch to Full, it will still use 640x480... so maybe the problem lies in how the Render Window handles resolution changing? RE: System freeze from Dolphin Esc or Alt + Enter - GodRays - 03-16-2010 Have you restarted your PC ? Anyway, maybe it's a sync/waiting issue. I was under the impression that was fixed. |
