Super Mario Galaxy: Extremely slow but says 100% speed. What's up? - sofakng - 02-13-2010 I've just compiled the latest SVN (R5041) but I've had this problem with all versions it seems. Anyways, when I play Super Mario Galaxy, the title bar says FPS: 30, VPS: 60, Speed 100%, but the game seems to be running at half-speed or something. I'm using all defaults and Framelimit is set to Auto (which is the default). What am I doing wrong or what's going on here? EDIT: Also, what's the difference between VPS and FPS? RE: Super Mario Galaxy: Extremely slow but says 100% speed. What's up? - nosound97 - 02-13-2010 Try disabling framelimit, there are various problems for people who have it set to 'Auto'. Also, what are your PC hardware specs? RE: Super Mario Galaxy: Extremely slow but says 100% speed. However, the Speed% seems to be changing and hits 150%, etc. Here's my system: Win7 64bit E8400 C2D @ 4.0 GHz 8 GB RAM GTX 285 Should I have to change any settings or just leave everything at default? Also, I'm running Dolphin.exe and not DolphinIL.exe. RE: Super Mario Galaxy: Extremely slow but says 100% speed. What's up? - badman - 02-13-2010 disable idle skipping RE: Super Mario Galaxy: Extremely slow but says 100% speed. What's up? - sofakng - 02-24-2010 Hmmm, it still doesn't seem to run very good. Should I be able to run Super Mario Galaxy at any resolution higher than the Wii native? (see my specs in the above post) I can't even seem to run the game at native full-speed... RE: Super Mario Galaxy: Extremely slow but says 100% speed. What's up? - GodRays - 02-24-2010 Try disabling audio throttle in the DSP settings. Keep framelimiter disabled for now. (I don't have the game at the moment to test) RE: Super Mario Galaxy: Extremely slow but says 100% speed. Keep framelimiter disabled for now. yes this is the best thing to do for this game in the slow parts, for me it goes from 35 to 50, and just press tab to enable the audio throttle again for the fast parts. Dolphin is mostly CPU depentant, so lowering the graphics settings won't affect your speed. (To get bottlenecked by that GPU you'd need to set up SSAA to 4x or even 9x for some games) However I have that same CPU (Just at 3 GHz) and I can fullspeed most places (lowest is 40 in the observatory) so make sure you're using the best settings (dual core, idle skipping, Copy EFB to texture, DON'T use PAL60 mode) Also try to disable framelimit and audio throttle, unfortunately they make some games slower (Without it they could get too fast instead, your choice) |
