I updated my computer's os today and dolphin is not letting me play my gamecube file. It is saying save state incompatible how do I get it to be compatible with the new version?

Dolphin's save states may be incompatible across different versions, depending on what changes were made. Typically, it's best to rely on save states for temporary saves, while Memory Card files are more long term. If you happen to have the old version of Dolphin, try making Memory Card saves with that, then import them into the newer version of Dolphin.
Unfortunately, there's no magic way to make them compatible. The layout of the save state data changes between versions, sometimes stuff gets added or removed, so there's no easy way to just patch it.
