Massive slowdown after closing the app and booting again - JoseSuarez - 10-08-2021 This is really weird, I literally first boot the app, run Skies of Arcadia without changing a single setting, then close it and when I boot it up again the framerate drops to 25 and the audio crackles a lot. Deleting the dolphin folder solves it but then it happens again after the next close and boot. Here's a video of the issue: https://youtu.be/Y01FYiRslbo I tested both google play's stable and yesterday's dev build, it goes exactly the same. Also tried on MMJR but to no avail, the same issue. Any idea of what might be happening? RE: Massive slowdown after closing the app and booting again - JosJuice - 10-08-2021 Hmm... Usually if things work the first time but not the second it's because of the shader cache, but having lower performance the second time (rather than something like a crash) is actually pretty bizarre, seeing as the point of the shader cache is that it improves performance. I'm actually not sure what could be causing this. RE: Massive slowdown after closing the app and booting again - JoseSuarez - 10-08-2021 (10-08-2021, 05:10 AM)JosJuice Wrote: Hmm... I was previously on LineageOS Android 10 and I'm now on DotOS Android 11, though Dolphin is the only app where I've had this performance issues, so I assumed it wasnt the shader cache or the dalvik of the phone. I'll try flashing a gpu cache cleaner. I suppose nobody else has reported this kind of issues on android 11? RE: Massive slowdown after closing the app and booting again - JosJuice - 10-08-2021 No, I've never heard of this specific issue before. There have been a few reports of getting crashes after the first time (unsure if they're specific to Android 11), but not worse performance. I just found a workaround by chance: going into the app switcher and then back into the game. I guess weird issue deserves weird solution. RE: Massive slowdown after closing the app and booting again - JosJuice - 10-09-2021 Ah, that old trick... If that helps, the cause of your problem is probably either thermal throttling (if you need to stay on the app switcher for an extended time in order for it to work) or some kind of artificial throttling by the governor for long-running apps (perhaps the governor thinks you would like to save battery). |
