Wii Remotes fail to sync in Bluetooth Passthrough - platypus - 09-30-2021

I've been trying to connect a real wiimote and an unbranded one in Dolphin on my Windows 10 PC but simply cannot get either one to connect no matter what I try (they both work flawlessly on my real wii console). I purchased a USB Sensor Bar Receiver and also purchased a Bluetooth 5.0 dongle which apparently has the CSR8510 chipset (adapters with this chipset all seemed to work in the "Adapter test results" on the Dolphin website). I replaced its driver to "LibusbK" using Zadig, selected the "Passthrough a Bluetooth adapter" option in the Controller Configuration dialog, opened a game, and pressed sync on the remote and then pressed my sync Hotkey in Dolphin. I tried this over several days but the four blue lights on the remote keep flashing and nothing ever connects. I also tried all sorts of different variations with settings (including trying to emulate the real wiimote option for the official remote) and different drivers and nothing has worked. Can I do anything differently or am I missing something? Or is it more likely that the sensor's not responding properly or the Bluetooth dongle just isn't fully compatible with Dolphin and I might need to buy another one?

Well, the first red flag is a CSR8510-based dongle claiming Bluetooth 5.0 support, which the chipset doesn't support (tops out at BT 4.0), so that's probably a fake BT adapter. Also, as shown in the adapter test results, compatibility can vary a lot even among different models using the same chipset.

Have you tried the regular "emulate a BT adapter" mode with the dongle you purchased? Does it work?

Yes I tried the "emulate a BT adapter" but the blue remote lights kept flashing without connecting. Before replacing the driver with LibusbK and before downloading Dolphin, I did try connecting the official remote via normal Bluetooth and it did show up as a device (I just didn't connect it as it required the PIN). So if it's the Bluetooth dongle, then perhaps I should just buy the "UGREEN USB Bluetooth Adapter" which I have seen online and which passed the test on the Dolphin website?
