Some questions on dolphin compatably (Redmi note 8 Pro) - Redmigamer - 08-28-2020 hi all, i joined the forums recently because i have some questions related to some of my GC and Wii games that i cant get to work properly on my android smartphone (redmi note 8 pro). im using two different versions of dolphin emu: 1) dolphin 5.0-11453 MMJ build (i found this from some guy on reddit) 2) dolphin 5.0-12481 Dev build (leastest) From dolphin site. my games in total are: 31 GC (Pal versions) 15 Wii (Pal versions) i've been testing all the games in both versions of dolphin emus, i have made two Compatibly lists, (the lists are WIP) one for GC games and one for Wii Games. out of the 31 GC games: 4 of them (Star fox assault*, Samurai Jack, Sonic heroes and harry potter POA) won't boot at all (stuck on black screen) in both versions, not sure how to get these to work properly? (im not sure if they won't run because they are in .nkit format? *star fox assault doesn't boot on CPU JIT ARM64 and exits, but boots on cached interpreter with sound issues however. the rest of the GC Games work fine (boot up and i can play the game) in both MMJ and Dev version. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ GC Games List: MMJ version plays these games fine: (FPS is around 50 or so + good sound) Zelda four swords adventures Zelda Wind waker Megaman Network transmission Megaman X Command mission super Mario sunshine Wario World Evolution Worlds Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Sonic Gems Sonic Mega collection Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Multi Disk Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition Sonic Riders Soul Caliber II Eternal Darkness Games That lag in MMJ + small sound issues: Pokemon XD Pokemon Collesum LOTR 2 LOTR 3 Metriod Prime Metriod Prime 2 Crash Bandicoot Wrath of cortex Fire Emblem Path of Radance Starfox adventures Shadow the hedgehog Games that won't boot: Star fox assault (doesn't boot on CPU JIT ARM64 and exits, but boots on cached interpreter with sound issues however ). Sonic Heroes Samurai Jack Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Askaban 2) Dolphin dev bulid: Playable: Eternal Darkness Zelda four swords adventures Zelda Wind waker Megaman Network transmisson Megaman X Command misson super mario sunshine Wario World Evoultion Worlds Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Sonic Gems Sonic Mega colletion Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Multi Disk Legend of Zelda Collector's Edtion Sonic Riders Soul Calibur II Games that play better than MMJ: Pokemon XD Pokemon Collesum LOTR 2 LOTR 3 Metriod Prime Metriod Prime 2 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (graphics and all are perfect, unlike mmj were harry's glasses are black like he's blind and black in menu glicthes) Games That lag + small sound issues: Crash Bandicoot Wrath of cortex (Crashes upon entering exit wrap on level 1, shows black screen + text?) Fire Emblem Path of Radance ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Wii Games: 1) MMJ: Playable: Bakugan Battle Brawlers Castlevania Judgment Fire Emblem Raident Dawn Link's Crossbow Training Pokemon Battle Revolution Super Smash Bros. Brawl The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy New Super Mario Bros Wii Castlevania Judgment Fire Emblem Raident Dawn Has Lags + sound issues: Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Metriod Other M New Super Mario Bros Wii Works but after Adding AR config code only: Sonic and the Black Knight Sonic And The Secret Rings (+ disable JIT Follow branch to even boot) Sonic Unleashed 2) Dev version: Playable: Bakugan Battle Brawlers Link's Crossbow Training Metroid: Other M Metriod Prime 3 Super Smash Bros. Brawl The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy Has Lags + sound issues: Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess No video, just sound: Sonic and the Black Knight Sonic And The Secret Rings (+ disable JIT Follow branch to even boot?) Sonic Unleashed Pokemon Battle Revolution (Crashes on boot, gives a Unvoex error). um, as you can see most of my games work great, except some tho, some i can't even get to boot up (4x GC games) and some issues on wii games. 1) what are the best settings for the games that has some lag or sound issues so that they can work a bit better? (best settings that i can apply to my andriod phone specficly). 2) do the settings from the wiki for the games above apply for andriod or just for the PC verins of dolphin? cause the wiki lists the four gc games as working, but for my case they won't even boot up? but they totaly work fine on my wii console in nintendodont. 3) the dolphin dev version does not use AR/gecko codes like MMJ does? 4) can a DSP that is dumped from a wii improve the sound on some games in dolphin and fix lags or any sound issues? 5) can i import my entire nand backup into dolphin on andriod? ive done this on windows 7 x86, but not sure if it works on andriod version. thanx and hope someone has some fixes for some of the games. (best settings that i can apply to my andriod phone specficly). The default settings, but with the emulated CPU clock reduced. The best value for the emulated CPU clock depends on the game. (08-28-2020, 02:43 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: 2) do the settings from the wiki for the games above apply for andriod or just for the PC verins of dolphin? The wiki generally doesn't know anything about problems that happen on Android but not on PC, which is why games that don't work for you are listed as working. However, if the wiki says that you should use a certain setting for a certain reason, then that very likely applies to Android. (08-28-2020, 02:43 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: 3) the dolphin dev version does not use AR/gecko codes like MMJ does? AR codes do work, but there is no GUI for it, so you have to edit the INI files in the GameSettings folder to enter AR codes. Gecko codes should work in the same way, but it seems like they don't work for some reason. (08-28-2020, 02:43 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: 4) can a DSP that is dumped from a wii improve the sound on some games in dolphin and fix lags or any sound issues? In short: no. It definitely won't fix any lag issues or any sound issues caused by lag. When it comes to other audio problems, it is theoretically possible for it to have an effect, but Dolphin's DSP ROM implementation (and Dolphin's DSP HLE as well) are mature enough that problems of that kind are almost unheard of. (08-28-2020, 02:43 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: 5) can i import my entire nand backup into dolphin on andriod? You can extract the NAND on a PC and then copy the extracted NAND to your Android device. It depends on the game. (08-29-2020, 02:00 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: 2) um, since im using two different dolphin versions, and one of them has AR codes, couldn't i just copy/paste the .ini files from one dolphin into another? While I don't know anything about how MMJ handles AR codes, I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work. (08-29-2020, 02:00 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: Star fox assault (doesn't boot on CPU JIT ARM64 and exits, but boots on cached interpreter with sound issues however ). Wait, it doesn't work on PC either? That does make me suspect that something could be wrong with the dump (except for Star Fox Assault, since it works with the cached interpreter). (08-29-2020, 02:00 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: 4) um, so if i add my nanad backup to dolphin on andriod, can i boot HBL with it or other HBC apps like nintendodont? I don't know what HBL is. Nintendont doesn't work on Dolphin. Most "normal" homebrew works (even if you don't have a NAND dump), like homebrew games, but many "system utilities" like USB Loader GX and such don't work. (08-29-2020, 02:00 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: 5) um, since my phone has 6gb ram (acually 5.xx gb), how can i free up more ram for dolphin to use if this is possble? Dolphin can't use anywhere near that much RAM. If Dolphin is able to run and doesn't force quit for no apparent reason, then you can assume that it has as much RAM as it needs. (08-29-2020, 02:00 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: 6) does the game turbo app in redmi note VIII pro actually help dolphin? boost in fps and smooth out the games? I have no idea what game turbo actually does. (08-29-2020, 02:00 AM)Redmigamer Wrote: 7) for playing metriod other m, what contorls must i use? wii + numchuk? i can't seem to move around at all You need to use Horizontal Wii Remote. You'll need to ensure the pointer is not on the screen most of the time. (Hmm, is there actually a way to hide the pointer if you're controlling it with the touchscreen? Not that I can remember...) The best CPUs is Snapdragon 720G, 730G, 845, 855, 865. 720G is on my Redmi Note 9 pro - 90% games work fine. RE: Some questions on dolphin compatably (Redmi note 8 Pro) - Redmigamer - 09-10-2020 hi all, i tested a few more games and got them working also: 1) Codename KND Operation V.I.D.E.O.G.A.M.E works great in both dolphin verstions (some small lag on sound when charaters talk, but it is fully playable ) 2) LOTR 3A works great in both dev and MMJ 3) Tales of symphoina works great in both versions also, i got sonic heroes and samurai Jack to finally work properly, the issue with them was rather simple, since they were not matching the redump versions from the .dat file, they wouldn't work not matter what settings was used, now they work perfectly fine .the only two gc games that i can't get to work now is: 1) harry potter and the persioner of askaban (it won't work even tho Nkit verifys that it is a redump valid match), any fix for making this work on dolphin 5.0? 2) starfox assult (it won't boot & exits on deflaut settings (CPU core: JIT ARM64 Recomplier), the game seems to hate this cpu core for some reason? it works with CCPU core: catched interpter but has slowdowns and sound lag) both of these are redump valid dumps (nkit app has a way to varify redump valid via test mode). 3) also, i have any save issue with Shadow the hegehog, it won't save data to a .gci, but when i remove an existing .gci and make a new one, it still says that 'there is no game data in memory card A". i can't save the game, this issue happens on real hardware also. maybe the game doesn't support .gci files? and needs a "Memory card A.raw" to save game data? another game that i can't save the game ATM is Codename KND: after finishing Kuki's level (Number 3), the game's autosave feature is on off, i go to turn it on and the game exits, also when i go in proflies the game exits, not sure why this happens, could it be due to the save state? 4) it it possble to map and freely move around the IR pointer via a control stick on a gamepad? as some wii games need the IR pointer (Bakugan, Link's crossbow traing, metriod prime 3/metriod other M, zelda games). 5) does updating dolphin to the leastest version add anything new or fix some issues to make games that had issues more playable? 6) can a new version of dolphin break existing compatablty with games that already work in proir versions? 7) how can i know which wii games need which buttons to use for gameplay specifily? so i can save space on my gamepad and have more buttons free, some games like link's crossbow training only use some buttons from the wii remote and numchuk, sonic and the secret rings needs tilt buttons only, sonic and the black knight needs swing buttons and shake/tilt? 8) is it possible to use only 1 version of dolphin instead of 2? most of my games (side from a few) can work prefectly fine in the dev version of dolphin, (the dev version is constantly being updated frequently, while MMJ is not). so it is better than MMJ to use, in some cases, some of my games work better in MMJ. speaking of how good the dev bulid is, i recently beat Lord of the riigns the return of the king from start to finish on it, using the deflaut settings, it was great and i had my Ipega 9087S gamepad too .can't wait to see how much better it can get, i'll use MMJ fr some games that work great for that version and dev for the others, a excellent front end is reset colletion for andriod (paid app), but it is wroth it for having a nice front end to play all the games along with a nice GUI menu with box art/game covers and game info, and you can set which dolphin version can boot each individual game .i've even found a way using auto start manger to auto boot into this app on startup of my andriod phone .
RE: Some questions on dolphin compatably (Redmi note 8 Pro) - Redmigamer - 09-15-2020 hi all, i got some gc games that had issues with fps and lag to fix, via lowering the emulauted cpu clock = 60%: 1) Metriod prime 2: game works better now 2) starfox adventures: game works alot better now, playable 3) Metriod prime 1: game works better now 4) shadow the heighog: game works better now 5) crash bandiccot: game work better now not sure if the wii games need emu cpu fix at 60% to work properly? eg. zelda twilight princess/skyward sword? |
