[Solved] Wii mote on windows 7 - Zeal - 12-14-2009

So I am running windows 7, connected my usb bluetooth adapter, and it found a "Nintendo-RVL-CNT-01". The trouble is, the device status says "Software is installing drivers for this device", and below that there is another status that says "Needs troubleshooting". I also have this little spinning green dot in the bottom right corner of my screen that says "Installing device driver software". However its been doing that for the past 30 minutes... clearly it cant find the correct drivers.

Any ideas what I can do to get my wii mote working?

Thanks

Reinstall your Bluetooth driver. Go to the website of the company that made your USB bluetooth.

My usb bluetooth is a generic little device and didnt come with any drivers. Nor does it have any brand name or model number, so I would have no idea how to lookup the manufacturers website.

But I dont think the problem is with the usb device itself (it is recognized by windows just fine, detects the wii mote just fine, ect...). The problem seems to be once the wii mote is recognized, it needs some additional 'wii mote specific' driver.

what do you expect the wiimote is supposed to be able to do installed "correctly"? If you think its supposed to move your cursor and such well you would be wrong, you need a program for that http://carl.kenner.googlepages.com/glovepie_download , and have you even tried it with dolphin?

Its most likely already working.

You don't need a WiiMote specific driver for it to work with Dolphin.
Maybe try the Toshiba driver? http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/?page=download

If it were working I am pretty sure I would have a solid blue light on the wiimote, which I dont have. I have tryed playing a game, and unless I am missing something inthe dolphin config menus, the wiimote is not working.

I am pretty sure that before it will work I will need to get rid of this "Software is installing drivers for this device" message.

So if you look at your bluetooth device window, you see a "Nintendo-RVL-CNT-01", and if you click on it, there are no warnings/errors?

Yes, that would be a good idea. Go into Device Manager, find your Bluetooth device (might be listed as Unknown Device or something else that isn't obvious), right-click and uninstall it (check the box to delete the driver if it asks). Unplug your USB Bluetooth, install the Toshiba driver I linked you to and plug in your USB when it asks or when its done.

Yes

But just to be clear, the usb bluetooth device IS installed just fine. Windows automatically installed drivers for it when I plugged it in. No problems were reported. The "Software is installing drivers for this device" message appears on the "Nintendo-RVL-CNT-01" device itselt, INSIDE the bluetooth device list.

Ah, that is different then. If your always getting this error, you may want to reinstall the Bluetooth anyway.

RE: Wii mote on windows 7 - Zeal - 12-14-2009

Ok got it working, I didnt really do anything, just inserted the bluetooth device, then added the wiimote. Works great now. Onlything I can think of, is maybe last time I tryed to connect the wiimote while the usb device itself was still syncing up.. I dont know what else it could have been..

Oh well, guess I shouldnt complain if its working.

*so just to recap, you shouldnt need to install ANY drivers if youre runnign windows 7. Just plug in your usb adapter, with for windows to auto install the drivers, then add a new device and hit buttons 1 & 2 on your wiimote.
