Has anyone tried to compile the dolphin source to test performance? Or is this impossible? Let me know if it works my dude I would be excited to hear that it even opens a game. RE: Dolphin on the pi 4? - Helios - 06-26-2019 50% of a shitty number is still a shitty number. But anyways, have fun RE: Dolphin on the pi 4? - bomblord - 06-26-2019 (06-26-2019, 03:12 AM)Helios Wrote: 50% of a shitty number is still a shitty number. So passive aggressive lol, for me it's fun to mess around with stuff just to do it even if it doesn't end up running well. Saying "dolphin is running on this credit card sized computer!" is just exciting within itself. RE: Dolphin on the pi 4? - Helios - 06-26-2019 The problem is that this subforum has a habit of over hyping every single piece of shitty hardware ever and then we get dorks coming in wondering why it runs like shit. Hype can be fun the journey is as important as the destination
RE: Dolphin on the pi 4? - myownfriend - 06-26-2019 The GPU is more than likely 3-4x more powerful. The OpenArena benchmark is a particularly trustworthy test. GFXBench shows Videocore V to have a 2.5x performance increase over Videocore IV. https://gfxbench.com/compare.jsp?benchmark=gfx50&did1=35520176&os1=Android&api1=gl&hwtype1=GPU&hwname1=Broadcom+VideoCore+V+HW+%28V3D-520%29&did2=28352303&os2=Android&api2=gl&hwtype2=GPU&hwname2=Broadcom+VideoCore+V+HW+%28V3D-530%29&did4=24975581&os4=Android&api4=gl&hwtype4=GPU&hwname4=Broadcom+VideoCore+IV+HW+%28V3D-435%29 The Pi 4 is Videocore VI. When I read this post, I thought for sure this was the Android subforum. Spot-on description of what happens there as well. For the RPi4, set low expectations. That way performance is either what you'd thought it'd be, or maybe a little better. I've seen stronger machines run Dolphin not so well. Completely irrelevant when OpenGL ES support tops at 3.0, which is the bare minimum for Dolphin to even boot a game and that will perform badly since it lacks the additional extensions Dolphin needs to run faster... RE: Dolphin on the pi 4? - mbc07 - 06-26-2019 Nobody said Dolphin wouldn't run (which was the case in previous Pis since they topped at OpenGL ES 2.0). It will run like trash, though, no matter how optimistic the synthetic benchmarks of Pi 4 might suggest... |
