Question about adding channels to system menu - Videogamer555 - 05-06-2019 Using a program called NUS Downloader, I downloaded a WAD for System Menu 4.3U, and that is working now in Dolphin. Now I just want to add some channels. But here's where the problem occurs. The NUS downloader simply downloads whatever files are available from Nintendo's file server, for the thing that you are trying to download, and then packs them into a WAD file. Nintendo doesn't actually offer WAD files. What they offer is a set of encrypted files, and another file called a ticket. NUS Downloader is capable of creating a WAD file from the encrypted files, but it needs this ticket file to do this. And here's where the problem lies, while some things offered from the Nintendo file server do have a ticket (such as the system menu, and the News Channel), not every channel has a ticket. For example, the Nintendo Channel (unlike the News Channel) does not have a ticket. Therefore NUS Downloader cannot create a WAD file for the Nintendo Channel. How do I install WAD-less channels (such as Nintendo Channel) in Dolphin, using only the set of encrypted files available from the Nintendo file server? Is this even possible in Dolphin? RE: Question about adding channels to system menu - JosJuice - 05-06-2019 You would need to download it using the Wii Shop Channel. Dolphin is able to emulate the Wii Shop Channel fully, but I'm not sure if Nintendo still offers downloads like that or not, since they are in the process of shutting down the Wii Shop Channel... Either way, the online service for the Nintendo Channel has been shut down, so I'm not sure how much enjoyment you're going to get out of it. RE: Question about adding channels to system menu - leolam - 05-08-2019 It's still possible to download free Wii channels other than the Wii U transfer channel and the Skyward Sword save fix channel, but only if you've downloaded them in the past. This is because the other channels are now unlisted and can now only be accessed from the "titles you've downloaded" list. But yeah, most channels have been shut down, so this is only really useful for the Internet Channel now. |
