Do I NEED a Dolphin Bar to play games? - afunfun22 - 04-12-2019

I just bought a bluetooth USB dongle so I could use my WiiMote (MotionPlus) to play games (specifically, Wii Sports Resort). But, the wii remote cursor doesn't appear anywhere. I'm assuming this is because I don't have a IR bar or anything like that. I really don't wanna drop $20 just to play Wii games. For that price, I could just buy another Wii!

Oh, and would Mario Kart Wii work without a bar? because I want to play that one

Mario kart wii supports gamecube controllers so you can just set up a GC controller in controller settings to play that.

Anyways, yes. You need an IR light bar to play most Wiimote required games. You don't need a dolphinbar if you already have a BT adapter, and something like this is much cheaper and gives you just the IR lights.

You need a sensor bar in order for the pointer to work, but not necessarily a DolphinBar (which is a special kind of sensor bar with built-in Bluetooth).

Mario Kart Wii does work without using the pointer, even if you're using a Wii Remote.
