GameINI - Yershi - 04-08-2019 When editing the GameINI settings for Super Mario Sunshine, I noticed a bug/graphical error (don't really know what to call it) in the the Dolphin Graphics settings menu. Normally, when you set an option in the GameINI, the graphics menu bolds the font of the option to signify said option was altered as well as displaying what the in game setting was changed to if it is different than what your global settings are. However, for the Anti-Aliasing setting, rather than displaying what was set in the GameINI, it displays the global setting. Now I know I set the GameINI setting right since for testing purposes I set my global setting to 8x SSAA, something I know will kill the framerate, and opened up Super Mario Sunshine, and it is playing like I have Anti-Aliasing turned off, which is what I set it to in the GameINI. Here is a picture of what my graphics menu looks like while Super Mario Sunshine is open [attachment=17948]. Here is also a picture of my GameINI settings for Super Mario Sunshine for reference [attachment=17949]. Also, just so I don't have to make a separate thread for two random questions, what does the GameINI setting "PerfQueriesEnable = True" do, I have tried browsing the internet and found nothing and it is somewhat bothering me that I don't know what it is. I found it as one of Dolphin's preset settings for Super Mario Sunshine (picture proof it exists and I'm not crazy) [attachment=17950]. Also, why is Force Texture Filtering Disabled a preset graphics option for Super Mario Sunshine, it doesn't state a reason on the wiki why you would need to turn it off and I turned it off in game and nothing broke as I played the game so is this just leftover from an older build of Dolphin or did no one bother to update the wiki page for Super Mario Sunshine. Sorry if this post seems too long but I didn't want to just spam the support thread with questions regarding the same subject. Also sorry if this is formatted badly, I'm new to the forums and not familiar with the post editor yet. RE: GameINI - JosJuice - 04-08-2019 Perf queries are a hardware feature of the GC/Wii that basically lets the CPU check how much was rendered on the GPU. It's only used by Super Mario Sunshine. RE: GameINI - JMC47 - 04-08-2019 Different features can break different graphics drivers. If you're so desperate to get these tiny graphical improvements, do it at your own risk imo. A lot of those features will specifically break perf queries, which is used by MAYBE two games, but, it's only confirmed in Super Mario Sunshine. Scrubbing Serena Beach is the mission iirc. Ah, there was that TimeSplitters game too, right? Though I'm not sure what it's used for in there... RE: GameINI - JMC47 - 04-08-2019 Yeah, I don't know what it's used for either... RE: GameINI - Yershi - 04-09-2019 Oh ok, I wasn't trying to get maximum performance, just wanted to know what Pref queries did. Also, as for the Graphics menu not displaying the per game Anti-Aliasing setting when a game is running, is that just something on my end or is it just a graphical bug, not too concerned if there really is an answer since the game still uses what is set in the GameINI but it kind of bugs me that the Graphics menu and the GameINI settings don't match visually. |
