Concerning synchronous ubershaders - 71knight - 04-05-2019

Guys, would an Nvidia gtx 1050 with a core i5 4790 cpu allow me to power through games using synchronous ubershaders without any stutter at all?  I know nvidia had a bug with ubershaders and certain backends that caused stuttering.  The forums say synchronous ubershaders can fix nvidia cards on the other backends that normally cause stuttering otherwise.  I would just be playing games like metroid prime 3 at native resolution with no enhancements.  What gpu would you recommend?

Switch your backend to Direct3D 11 or 12 and use async ubers.

Don't use synchronous. It's really only an option like, one person on the development team would ever use.

I don't know why we have it in the UI.

A 1050 will not let you use sync ubershaders. Async, on the other hand, can easily be run and does eliminate the stutter.

You didn't really add anything here.

this is a good question, as there's seem to be no upside to using sync'd option.
