Pre-rendered cutscenes low FPS? Capped at 20 FPS. - Breembin - 11-17-2018

Good morning

I've been having an issue lately that I can't seem to fix. It has been happening with Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The game runs flawless, but whenever I watch a cutscene, the game drops to an absurdly low FPS. I can't recall ever having this problem before, so I updated to the latest stable build ( 5.0-9134 ). I've tried searching all over for a fix for this, but nothing seems to help.

This only seems to happen on cutscenes that I haven't previously sat through. The ones that I have run at a solid 60FPS, but new cutscenes stutter and drop in FPS. I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue. I feel like this shouldn't be a problem on my PC. It's only on my PC too, as running the same exact game and build on my laptop works just fine, no issues at all. It's specs are GTX 1060 6GB, i7-7700HQ 2.80GHz, 16GB DDR4.

Here are my specs:

RTX 2080 8GB

Ryzen7 2700X @ 3.7GHz

16GB DDR4

Dolphin 5.0-9134

Windows 10 - 1809

I have tried:

Changing the Shader Complilation (all 4 options)

"Compiling Shaders Before Starting"

Enabling and disabling V-Sync

Changing Backend from Direct3D 11 to OpenGL

Enabling and disabling "Skip EFB Access from CPU"

Enabling and disabling "Store EFB Copies to Texture Only"

Enabling and disabling both "Load Custom Textures" and "Prefetch Custom Textures"

Changing the CPU Emulation Engine (all 3 options)

Enabling and disabling "Enable Dual Core (Speedup)"

Enabling and disabling "Enable Cheats"

Changing DSP Emulation Engine (all 3 options)

Changing storage medium (HDD to SDD)

This is what I could remember changing when going through the options. I've gone through many forums stating to change one or more of these options, but I can't say that I've messed with them enough to find a working combination of them all.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your computer may be going into low power mode when the game is rendering an FMV thinking that the program isn't pushing many polygons so it must not need any power.

Actually wait, do you have Emulated CPU Clock set to anything other than default?

It is currently set to JIT Recompiler (recommended), I believe this is default.

Yes, that's the default for CPU Emulation Engine. But JMC was asking about Emulated CPU Clock, which is on the Advanced tab.

I have tried setting it from anywhere to 100% - 400%, with no change in FPS.

Wow. First of all, my apologies for posting and not trying this first. Secondly, thank you for the helpful input. I decided to reinstall Dolphin, and that instantly fixed my issue. I don't know what was causing it in the first place, but I'm glad it's finally fixed. I can't believe it didn't occur to me to try this first and foremost.    Dodgy
