worked fine - now stutter - bugster_de - 11-05-2018

Hi,

i ran Dolphin in my living room PC for over a year with no issues. No stutter every game just worked flawless. I had been playing Donkey Kong a week ago with my daughter with no issues. We wanted to continue the game today and to my surprise, it was very slow. No sound stutter though. A PC reboot brought no improvements so I tried other games I have: they all run slow (like half the speed) and they have audio stutter.

PC Hardware:
Intel Core i7 8700K water cooled, Nvidia GTX 1060, 16 GB RAM 3333 MHz running Windows 10 64 bit
Further connected is an Oculus Rift.
So in total not the most crappy machine to run Dolphin.

I have now spent more than an hour testing the various grafics options (D3D11, D3D12, OpenGL, Vulka) with no effect. I have upgraeded to latest Dolphn developer build but also no change.

Again it worked excellent for over a year and all of a sudden, it doesn't work anymore.

Ayn ideas?

Was there an update to Windows or a GPU driver update? Some things to check:
-Make sure that your power plan in Windows is set to High performance.
-While in the power options menu, make sure fast boot is disabled.
-Check the Nvidia Control panel and make sure that you have a profile for Dolphin setup to use High Performance (and you aren't forcing anything else, like say v-sync)
-Check your temps and clock speeds when running Dolphin

Hi,

thank you for the hints. I checked them and it seems to be the VSync option. If I turn that off, it works. So thank you so much. This is great news, as my little daughter loves the Wii games and as it worked flawless with Dolphin, we have given our Wii away (and just kept the games DVDs to remain legal with Dolphin).

Windows Updates: I have auto updating enabled so might well be that there has been an update. On Nvidia side, I have auto update turned off, as I want to check "improvements" first before installing it. I had my surpises over the years.

The VSync is somewhat interesting: about three weeks ago, the panel of our 2017 Samsung Flatscreen had been exchanged due to malfunction. Only the panel and not the electronics and since a couple of days, we experience some strange behavior with Amazon Prime app not loading and stuff. So eventually the service guy needs to show up again.
Side note: I can recommend Samsung service. Exchanged the panel with no hassle in my house. Si I didn't have to send the TV somewhere.
In any case, VSync turned on in other games (Steam based) works fine still. You can see me scr
