Sensor Bar Replacement Assistance? - ToxicCaves - 10-17-2018

Hello, recently I tried using my dolphin bar with some wii games in dolphin again and the range seems drastically low. It turns out you're not supposed to let it stay on constantly Confused Lol. So I guess I fried the LEDS (No lights are on either of the 5 bulbs on each side). Everything else works fine with pushing buttons on the controller and nunchuck.

My question is, where could I find a new one? Is amazon the only place? Because I believe I originally purchased it for 10-12 dollars but now its in the 20's and I'm tight on money. I noticed a USB sensor bar by HDE thats 9 dollars, but not sure on its compatability with dolphin or what hoops I may have to go through to get it to function. Does anyone have any reviews of the HDE or alternate items, or know where I can purchase a cheaper DolphinBar (as I like this one a lot)?

Bonus points if theres any troubleshooting I could go through. Maybe I could string up christmas lights since wii remotes only need a flashlight or candle to work too though not as well. Maybe I could finally get scented candles and make my desk a shrine. Hmm...

Oh, right, cheap dolphin bar pls.

The first revisions of the DolphinBar did have a design flaw where the LEDs would get overpowered and eventually fry. That was fixed in later revisions (and newer firmware) though.

If you want to keep using your old dolphin bar all you need is a USB sensor bar assuming it's just the LEDs burned out.

Yeah, you can buy a normal sensor bar (i.e. not a DolphinBar) that supports IR but not Bluetooth, and keep using your DolphinBar for Bluetooth but not IR. A normal USB sensor bar is very simple, you just plug it in and it works. (It doesn't even necessarily have to be plugged in to your computer, it just needs to be plugged into something that can power it.)

Ah ok, i didnt even think of using both and the fact i just need a glorified LED lightstand. If the cheap brand’s LEDS work allright then i guess i will get the cheapest USB bar i can find and stack it with my current dolphin bar. Thanks to everyone who replied! Ill try not to burn this one out, hahaha

Only DolphinBars are known to have the IR LEDs burn out, so I don't think you'll have any problems with that.
