Can my laptop support the emulator? - northerncali1990sj - 12-03-2009

So I just got a brand new laptop today (Dell studio 1555)

Spec: 4gigs of ram, 5000 gb harddrive, Ati mobility Radeon HD 4570 with 2 gigs of memory. Do you guys think my laptop will be able to handle dolphin?

Oh, and I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

You'll need at least a dual core CPU. Your laptop has a single mobile processor, it is more designed for mobile purposes like battery consumption rate. Probably not going to work.

It's actually an Intel Centrino a dual core with 2.20 ghz.

1. Is it really necessary to post the same question 3x?

2. Why not just try it instead of asking?

Because I want answers first.

Then test it yourself if you want the answers so bad. You have the full ability to use Dolphin, the free Gamecube emulator, on your computer for testing.

But, to reiterate what so many others have said; Dolphin runs according to the game you're trying to run. 2D games and games with minimal 3D graphics usually run pretty well. 3D games with large environments usually don't run so well on weaker hardware, and believe it or not, a 2.2Ghz dual would fall under "weaker hardware" these days.

Please, try these things out before you come to these forums asking for help. You'll definitely get the answers you want, sooner than you ever would get them here.

cpu is what matters and i believe yours sux. (sorry but that's the truth) u'll get like 20 fps in most games.

and yes, try things before you ask. its not like you're buying dolphin... it doesn't take a genius to work with emulators either.
