Phantasy Star Online EP1 & 2 + EP3 Crashes - Danster72 - 09-12-2018

Hello peeps, this is my first post and hope I am finding the forum well.

I've recently downloaded Dolphin through Play after reading it has been much improve for Android and I was pleasantly surprised at how great it really is, really impressive stuff. I am running the emulator on my Samsung S8+ as it doesn't run well on my GPD XD Plus which is a shame as I only just bought that as well.

One of my dreams was to have a portable version of my favorite game of all time, PSO Ep1 & 2 followed by EP3 as second. To find that this was nearly finally the case had really excited me.

After playing PSO EP1 & 2 for nearly 4 days straight now, it varies in performance but not to the point where I couldn't play it, until I hit the Spaceship boss in EP2 where the game came to a grinding halt running at 1 frame every 10 seconds!!! (but it didn't crash and I waited until it resumed in and out of this sequence until I killed the boss and all was ok again. It seems to happen when anything gets up very close). But for the most part up until then I was really enjoying the experience and had got used to the minor slow down & stuttering.

I completely appreciate that in no way this was going to be perfect, however I would like to know if anybody has experienced this before and if there's anything I can help improve the issue with it grinding to a halt by tweaking something without breaking it completely as I can see there are many options within the emulator but I wouldn't know where to start unfortunately.

PSO EP3 is even worse which is a shame, what tends to happen there is once I start a card battle, as soon as my opponent makes a move the emulator does crash and exits out of the app completely. This happens every time at the same place.

Any advice and help to try and improve the performance would be fantastic.

PS, does anybody know if there is any difference in performance running Dolphin on an S9+ over the S8+ or is it relatively similar?

Thanks for reading,
Danny.

I've always wanted to play these games on the go. It would be even better if we can play it online. Smile

Wait... I'm on the Shield TV and after I put in my time and date the game goes black... How did you get this running? I'm on PSO1&2 Plus

(EDIT: Game crashes after I set the time and date.. I can't progress..)

You should be able to just say no when it asks if you want to change the time and date.

Is there a way to play this online on Android? Like turn on the BBA setting through an INI?

Getting BBA to work is more complicated than that. I'm currently not aware of a way to do it on Android.

Thanks for the replies although they were off topic.

Not to bothered about the online aspect unless there was a way to download the quests to the memory card like I did on my real Gamecube (oooh i'd love to play TTF or Endless Nightmare 4!!).

Just really wanted to know how to get the best performance out of this emulator especially for this game really.

There's really nothing much you can do, but just wait until some issues gets fixed or mobile tech improves.
