External display makes Dolphin run slow... - IJustWannaPlayDoubleDash... - 09-03-2018 I gots a problem: When I play Dolphin on my laptop, with only using my laptop as the display for the game, Dolphin can run Super Smash Bros Brawl at roughly 60 fps. Once I plug in an HDMI cable for an external monitor, the fps drops to 30 and the game becomes very laggy. Based on my troubleshooting, I have determined that my laptop and its HDMI port are not the problem, and I was also able to isolate that the HDMI cable and the external display were not the problem either. This means that the only thing that should be a problem is the Dolphin emulator itself. I am not sure what settings (if any) I should change or if there is some other thing/process that I should undergo. Please let me know! Thank you! RE: External display makes Dolphin run slow... - JMC47 - 09-03-2018 I had this problem with my laptop on a GTX 1060 as well. The problem was my laptop's HDMI port runs through my onboard graphics. RE: External display makes Dolphin run slow... - DJBarry004 - 09-03-2018 But, shouldn´t be SSBB light enough for the integrated GPU? With no enhacements I mean. RE: External display makes Dolphin run slow... - themaster123 - 09-03-2018 Are you duplicating you display. try running it on the second display only. this setting can be found with windows key+p. I had this problem with normal game \ dolphin on my laptop in the past. My Laptop gtx 1070 would always drive the second display while the integrated ran the internal cause performance issues. looking at you hardware I can see this been related. I was able to achieve full frame rate while duplicating my screen about 4 months ago. This is a problem that arose yesterday. RE: External display makes Dolphin run slow... - themaster123 - 09-03-2018 Have you update either the nvidia or intel driver if you don't know look under windows update history. I have issue with my laptop with the second display due to a driver updated and it cause problems. Windows update can update driver with you noticing you not careful. How would I look to see if a specific driver was updated in windows update history? I have Windows 10. RE: External display makes Dolphin run slow... - themaster123 - 09-03-2018 It under setting / update and security/view update history. You may have to scroll down to driver updates to see it. Also while less likely a update to dolphin could have cause this. If you find no updates driver it might be worth use a older developmental build to see if there was a bug. RE: External display makes Dolphin run slow... - mbc07 - 09-03-2018 If you're getting capped at exactly 30 FPS, check if the refresh rate of the external display isn't set as 30 Hz. That occurred once with me... |
