How important is the Graphics Card? - Vendetta001 - 11-18-2009 Hello everyone, I was wondering how important the GPU of your PC is for emulating GC/Wii games. I've seen some Mario Galaxy Videos running pretty smooth on youtube and would like to archive that too. My specs are: Windows 7 4Gb Ram 3,15ghz Core2Duo E8500 (could be oced up to 3,8ghz easily if needed) ATi R700 HD4850 512MB Is this enough for fullspeed at decent resolutions(1680x1050 would be great but 1280x800 would be fine too)? And what's about AF and AA? I guess that will be handled by the GPU, is it strong enough for it? -It's still some time till I have galaxy in Iso format here, so I ask this stupid question ahead ^^ RE: How important is the Graphics Card? - fagoatse - 11-18-2009 HD4850 is overkill for dolphin, even 3850 would do. RE: How important is the Graphics Card? - kleinfreezer - 11-19-2009 Hey vend, Ya your specs is perfect for your requirment.it is good for GPU.dont worry.so start see your galaxy video in your pc.. Thanks. RE: How important is the Graphics Card? - jedikevin20 - 11-20-2009 Your Pc is pretty much equivalent to mine. If you wanna get a feel or speeds then check my youtube page. Have a ton of gameplay vids of my wii and gc games. Dolphin Emulation vids. RE: How important is the Graphics Card? - Vendetta001 - 11-22-2009 Ah that's cool, I'll watch them ^^ After trying a few GC/Wii Games (not mario yet, that will take a little longer ^^) I've come to the conclusion that the gfx card is pretty much enough already. But the CPU is working like crazy, both cores at 100% might try to overclock it a bit later. Something I am wondering about: I don't really see a difference in Zelda TP when enabling MSAA up to 8x compared to none. It is flickering like on my wii and the quality doesn't seem to get up with higher res, I've tried 1680x1050 so far but it doesn't really look any better than on my wii with it's 640x480 or something rez on the same TV(my tv is also my PC Monitor here) connected with a comp. cable. I guess Anti Aliasing doesn't really work well with every game, at least not with Zelda. When I played Super Paper Mario the difference was really big, also the resolution change... |
