Dolphin seems to run NSMB Wii more slowly with OpenGL than DX9 - RedXelyx - 01-25-2017 I was wondering why when I run New Super Mario Bros. Wii using OpenGL it seems to run slower than when I run it with DirectX 9. I am using the official release 4.0.2 of the 64-bit version of Dolphin; my computer's specs are Operating System: Windows 7 x64 Processor/CPU: AMD 8350 4Ghz Video Card/GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7870 Memory/RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16 GB If anyone can tell me anything relating to this issue, I would greatly appreciate it; thanks, in advance! RE: Dolphin seems to run NSMB Wii more slowly with OpenGL than DX9 - JosJuice - 01-25-2017 Update Dolphin. 4.0.2 is very old. EDIT: One reason that DX9 can be faster is because it's more inaccurate, but regardless of the reason it's faster, you should get better speed with any backend if you use a newer version of Dolphin. (DX9 isn't available in newer versions anymore, though.) RE: Dolphin seems to run NSMB Wii more slowly with OpenGL than DX9 - MayImilae - 01-25-2017 And newer versions are MUCH faster than 4.0.2! RE: Dolphin seems to run NSMB Wii more slowly with OpenGL than DX9 - degasus - 01-26-2017 And they support spinning coins without EFB2RAM. RE: Dolphin seems to run NSMB Wii more slowly with OpenGL than DX9 - Helios - 01-26-2017 You're on AMD, so use Direct3D 11 once you update to 5.0. OpenGL is very slow on AMD GPUs. Alternatively, update to a dev revision and use Vulkan, also a very good option for AMD GPUs. |
