Did you check the temps of your CPU and GPU? Sounds like thermal throttling to me.

Hmm maybe, but playing heavy other game for me like Day light didnt happen for me. And i was playing dolphin 4.0 a year ago playing xenobalde for hours didnt make this happen too. Ill check again if this is true by checking the temps

Playing PC game or Emulating a Gamecube/Wii playing a game... see the difference here? 1 is made for the computer you are running on and thus needs less power to run it on the CPU (Daylight > more GPU bound)... Playing eg. Xenoblade makes your computer Imitate the Wii (which costs a shitload of power on the CPU) and then INSIDE the imitation of the Wii it will run the game using even more power on the CPU.

This also goes to say: Dolphin got more accurate and thus better, this also means that since 4.0 the system requirements went up by a lot. If you are still playing on the same machine: did you ever clean the fans and heatsinks? if you didn't the same computer you used to play on can now overheat. Did you get a different machine? which is "faster" but has only one heatsink or maybe no fans, then it might overheat as well. No way in checking if you don't do the testing yourself... my crystalball has been out of commission since 1983...

Since Dolphin is a Dual-core application you can throw 10000000 cores/processors at it, it wont go faster than 2 core because the way emulation works. Also recent processors automatically overclock if there are less than the maximum of cores in use (also known as TurboBoost) which increases heat and thus might throttle your processor down to play games at unplayable speeds.
